SPECIAL NOTES!!!!

A NEW OLIVER SONG - WANNA SING BACKUP? (reminder)

As you all know, Oliver Swain is our guest for the concert. We are doing one song with him (Believe), and there is another song that needs a smaller group - maybe about 20 - 25 singers - to do some vocal backup. It's the type of situation where those involved will have to learn the parts outside of GHC time and then we'll have a couple of rehearsals before choir. Bill has posted the song in the Current Singers Only section of our web site and you can hear it here . It's called "Harris Green":
If you are interested in being a part of the backup for this lovely song, please let me know by email at , and I'll give you the music at choir, or send it to you. Note that there won't be parts files for this song.
Thanks, all!
Denis

OLIVER SWAIN AT PRACTICE

Oliver will be at the Monday practice this week and possibly either Tuesday or Thursday. Unfortunately his coming to one of the James Bay practices is pretty iffy. If you want to be sure of a chance to practice with him try to make it to the Monday practice. There will, however, probably another chance closer to the concerts.

CONCERT PROMO EMAIL

Earlier today we sent out our Concert Promo email for you to pass on to your personal and other contact lists. Please do so enthusiastically. All of you in our extended community of current and past singers are the backbone of our efforts to fill the Alix Goolden Hall’s seats for the benefit of The Power of Hope. The more financial support we can give them the more great work they can do in helping our youth to develop creativity, leadership and self-esteem through their excellent arts based workshops. MY DEAR FRIENDS FROM GETTING HIGHER CHOIR
I decided to step out from the position of GHC photographer. Mostly because of my completely unpredictable and worsening health issues. I also realized it is the time to digitize my older negatives and finally publish and show to the public the best of my lifetime photography work. In a next year I plan to focus on the content and layout of the future book and exhibition of my best images.
I would like to thank you for all your patience, friendliness, warm smiles, and great and so photogenic singing performances for all these years. It was a great journey for me.
If you liked my work and appreciated my choir life documentation for last 12 years, please support my efforts to publish and exhibit my photos mostly by visiting my website, taking lessons with me or refer them to your friends and spreading the world about my services.

2.  add it to the on the GHC site’s Choir Life Calendar

If you want to host a home sectional please email me or call 920-4160 (9 to 9 daily).

SINGING FOR MANDELA

A number of members of our choir community sent me the following link to a Youtube video of a Soweto Gospel Choir flash mob in Pretoria recently. Since none of them did so in the form of a submission to the newsletter, and I think the video is worth a watch and listen for everyone, I decided to submit it myself. Enjoy!

As Tom Attig, one of those sending it to me, said: “The singing is simply gorgeous, and there are several other nice videos to be found on the site.”

Submitted by Bill Hanson GHC Bass etc. with thanks for bringing it to my attention to:
