Chairperson Phyllis Gremillion called the meeting to order.
Roll call was as follows:
Commissioners Present:Phyllis Gremillion, Sam Fauntleroy, William Leach,Edmond d’Hemecourt, andLeonard White
Commissioners Absent:None.
Staff Present:Nahketah Bagby, Bonnie Champagne, and Julian Rodrigue
Approval of Minutes
Commissioner White made a motion to approve the Minutes from the meeting on September 19, 2011, seconded by Commissioner Leach. Roll call was unanimous to approve the Minutes. The Minutes from the meeting on September 19, 2011 were approved.
Board of Adjustment Case
1.Case No. 12-01-01BOA – A request for a variance, for the corner of Collins and E. 33rd Avenue, from the fence height requirement (Section 4.5) of 2 and one-half feet to 6 feet to provide security for both large and small rental equipment. This request is for Volvo Rents for Lots 66 and 66A situated in the Second Connelly Addition, City of Covington, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.
Petitioners/Owners: Volvo Rents/Jeff Shows/Kastner Enterprises LLC
Commissioner Gremillion led a discussion on Case No. 12-01-01BOA.
Commissioner Leach made a motion to approve Case No. 12-01-01BOA, seconded by Commissioner White. Roll call: yeas – 2 (Leach and White); nays – 3 (Gremillion, Fauntleroy and d’Hemecourt). Motion failed.
Commissioner Fauntleroy made a motion to amend the request as follows: To install a 6 foot chained link fence with three strands of barbed wire at the top, extending from the southeast corner of the existing fence closest to the building to the property line on W. 33nd Avenue and then west along W. 33rd Avenue to the existing fence. Seconded by Commissioner Gremillion.
Commissioner White made a motion to amend the amendment as follows: To install a wrought iron fence on the property line along Collins Boulevard and to install a 6 foot chained link fence with three strands of barbed wire at the top, along the property lines on the north and south sides as depicted in the Permit Plan dated February, 2012. Seconded by Commissioner d’Hemecourt. Roll call: yeas – 3 (Leach, d’Hemecourt and White); nays – 2 (Gremillion and Fauntleroy). Motion passed.
Commissioner White made a motion to approve the request, as amended, seconded by Commissioner d’Hemecourt. Roll call: yeas – 3 (Leach, d’Hemecourt and White); nays – 2 (Gremillion and Fauntleroy). Motion passed.
Other Business
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
