The department of Bioanalytics and Formulation in Technology Development provides technical support to late clinical and commercial stage cell culture production, purification, formulation, and fill/finish process development. Other responsibilities include technology transfer to commercial manufacturing as well as troubleshooting and investigating process yield improvements for all licensed therapeutics. Additionally, we also develop lyophilization processes and new drug dosage forms as part of life cycle management. We are currently seeking an individual whose responsibilities will include:

  • Leading scientific role in research and investigation of root causes of instability and degradation of protein based biopharmaceutical products during the manufacturing process, including storage and handling.
  • Designing, executing, and interpreting experiments to identify factors that impact or enhance protein production, purity, stability and bioactivity.
  • Providing support and coordination of analytical testing, data analysis, characterization, and formulation development of therapeutic protein, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapy products.
  • Representing the department in project teams to support major project activities and product development tasks
  • Taking a critical role in technical coaching and training of peers and staff scientists on the team
  • Staying abreast of new developments/technologies in areas of responsibility
  • Working independently or with large multi-disciplinary teams and cross functional areas
  • Attending external technical forums and publish in first class technical journals

Requirements: Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysical chemistry or bioanalytical chemistry with 2-10 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industrial experience (candidates with only academic experience can also be considered as exception if it is demonstrated that the experience is relevant). Working knowledge with biological and/or biopharmaceutical samples or products including therapeutic protein, monoclonal antibodies, and /or gene therapies is required.

Preferred: Prior experience with a wide range of state-of-the-art biophysical, bioanalytical and biochemical assay and/or characterization technologies. An in-depth knowledge and expertise in the field of protein, carbohydrate, virus particle analysis, characterization, and formulation development are highly desired. Experience with protein folding research is a plus. Demonstrated experience in technical supports of cell culture, purification process, and formulation, lyo and fill/finish process development with analytical and characterization tools as well as PAT and /or automation is a plus. The candidate must be self-motivated and have excellent organization and communication skills. Demonstrated supervising and people skills are highly desired. Established good publication record is a plus.
