Project Coordinator (Temporary, Part Time)

The Minnesota Health Action Group Diabetes Prevention Project Coordinator reports directly to the president and CEO. This temporary, part-time position requires approximately 8-12 hours per week.

General Summary:

The Minnesota Health Action Group is contracting with the Minnesota Department of Healthto support grantees in four Minnesota communities to work with employers to make the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) available to their employees. This will involve creating the employer section of a NDPP toolkit to engage employers about offeringthe NDPP as a covered benefit, supporting grantees with technical assistance and training, and partnering with staff at the Minnesota Department of Health and in the communities to achieve goals.

The NDPP Project Coordinator will be required to:

  • Complete toolkit materials including, for example, ROI talking points, employer NDPP FAQs, models of NDPP for many types and sizes of organizations, and effective NDPP marketing strategies for worksites. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will approve Toolkit documents.
  • Participate in the learning collaborative with local Diabetes Prevention Networks hosted by MDH Diabetes Prevention Networks, and attend meetings and/or calls to discuss and share information.
  • Train grantees about how to approach and educate employers about the NDPP, and attend meetings as needed.
  • Provide resources, expertise and technical assistance to grantees to support them in successfully implementing their grant strategy of increasing the number of employers offering NDPP.
  • Conduct baseline assessments of employers in the community with and without NDPP as a covered benefit, and develop an action plan for employer engagement to increase NDPP as a covered benefit.
  • Support grantee to implement an action plan through a four-year grant.
  • Work with a MDH Policy Analyst who will develop a strategic health plan approach to create reimbursement for and promote use of the NDPP.
  • Coordinate with a MDH Worksite Specialist around employer engagement to enhance each other’s efforts and avoid duplication to grantees.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, following through on stated commitments.
  • Initiative to propose and implement creative solutions.
  • Computer proficiency in a variety of software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate student pursuing a master of science in health communication, health care marketing, health care marketing communications, or similar field of study.
  • Knowledge of worksite health promotion and Minnesota’s health care environment
  • Deep knowledge of the diabetes crisis facing the U.S., and how it affects individuals, employers and health care providers.

Compensation:

This non-exempt position pays an hourly wage of $20.
