AUGUST 17, 2004

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met pursuant to the recess of July 6, 2004 at the Courthouse in the City of Blue Earth at 9:00 a.m. on August 17, 2004. The following members were present: Loren Lein, Barb Steier, Tom Loveall, and Tom Warmka, Commissioners. County Auditor John Thompson and County Attorney Brian Roverud were also present.

The meeting was called to order Chairman Steier.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Warmka/Loveall motion carried unanimously to approve the synopsis and official proceedings of the August 3, 2004 regular meeting.

The calendar was updated.

Committee reports were presented.

No member of the public appeared during public comment.

Warmka/Loveall motion carried unanimously to approve request from S. Wiltse, S. Robbins, and K. Skaare to attend Mn. Assoc. of Assessing Officers fall conf. Sept 19-22 in Duluth; L. Lehman to attend MOCIC annual conf. Sept 14-16 at Sioux Falls, SD; L. Lehman and M. Gormley to attend Mn Sex Crime Investigator Assoc. conf. Oct. 6-7 in Nisswa; T. Dybvik to attend Mn fraud investigators fall conf. Oct. 15 in Brooklyn Park; C. Anderson to attend powerphone advanced law enforcement Sept. 27-28 in Milaca.

Personnel/Data Processing Manager Brenda Ripley met regarding office business.

Lein/Warmka motion carried unanimously to appoint Tom Loveall to the personnel committee.

November 17, 2004 has been set up as Faribault County Health Day. There will be stroke detection tests offered on that day. A vision program will possibly be an addition to programs offered to employees at their own cost.

Planning and Zoning Technician Bruce Blakesley met regarding office business.

A feedlot notification on a feedlot owned by Gary and Craig Johnson was discussed

Public Works Director John McDonald met regarding office business. A construction update was given. Paving on County Road 16 is beginning. Discussion was held regarding roof repair on the Public Works garage. The new transit bus will be arriving on August 24th. Signs for bridges affected by state regulation dealing with timber hauling will be installed. Minnesota Department of Transportation is supplying the signs. The road tour to be held on September 23, 2004 was discussed.

Warmka/Loveall motion carried unanimously to pay bills totaling $256,898.42 as follows:

COUNTY REVENUE FUND $ 41,126.65

PUBLIC WORKS FUND 106,929.07

COUNTY LIBRARY FUND 369.04

HUMAN SERVICES FUND 108,473.66
