Notice Regarding SSOT2017 Renewal Fees
Dear SSOT Members,
As December unfolds, we are busy with many holiday festivities and preparations both at home and at work. SSOT is also busy preparing for the upcoming renewal year. You will soon receive your membership renewal package and we wanted to draw your attention to one change; a slight (approximately 3%) increase in your membership fees. We wanted to take a moment to explain the rationale for the increase.
This is our second year of offering online renewals and payment through our online database Alinity. Using an online service has increased the ease and speed of the renewal process while ensuring that fees were paid upon renewal. This improved process has resulted in an increase in fees incurred by SSOT. Last year, the increased cost was absorbed into our budget, but we cannot continue to do this without impacting the other services that SSOT offers. Therefore, we felt we needed to pass this slight increase onto our members. Please note that the change was approximately 3%, rounded up or down, in each membership category and fee.
We also discussed whether there was a cost savings by paying renewal fees by cheque. However, the cost of having our personnel process cheques is just as costly, if not more costly, than the online process. Therefore, we encourage our members to use the online system for renewals and for payment. If your employer submits your fees to SSOT by cheque, please ensure that they are aware of the fee increase. If online fee payment is not possible, please contact to make alternate payment arrangements.
This small fee increase better enables SSOT to meet our commitment of supporting your work and of meeting the needs of Saskatchewan residents. We look forward to more collaboration with you in the coming year.
Sincerely,
Sonia Brooks, President
On behalf of SSOT Council
