Title: Psychoactive Medications/Common Side Effects

is on a psychoactive medication. He/she may complain of or have the following side effects from this drug. Report these complaints to the Licensed Nurse or Medication Aid Immediately.

Common Side Effects / Medication(s)

Anti-Psychotic

Sedation, drowsiness (Sleepy), dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, extra pyramidal symptoms (restlessness, muscle spasms, involuntary movements), weight gain, edema (swelling of feet or hands), postural hypotension (low blood pressure on standing), sweating, loss of appetite, urinary retention (difficulty urinating).
REPORT SYMPTOMS IMMEDIATELY BY WRITING A ROER & NOTIFYING R.N. OR MED AID ON DUTY
Antidepressant:
Sedation, drowsiness (sleepy), dry mouth, blurred vision, Urinary retention,
(Difficulty urinating), Tachycardia(fast heart beat), muscle tremor, Agitation, Headache, Skin Rash, Skin Photosensitivity(sun burns easily), Excess weight gain.
Report Symptoms immediately by writing a ROER & notifying R.N. or med aid on duty
Anti-anxiety:
Sedation, Drowsiness (sleepy), Ataxia (drunk walking), Dizziness, Nausea, Vomiting, Confusion, Headache, Blurred vision, Skin Rash
Report symptoms immediately by writing a ROER& notifying the R.N. or med aide on duty
Anticonvulsant:
Drowsiness, Ataxia (drunk walking), Nystagmus (rapid side to side eye movement), Dizziness, Blurred vision, nausea, Rash, Gum enlargement, Jaundice (yellowing skin or eyes)
