BIG SIR DAVE MOORE 893-2157
The Fourth of July is just days away. I hope you all have a great celebration and reflect on the birth of this great nation. It is a privilege and a great responsibility to be a citizen of the United States of America.
Our June meeting went well despite doing a work around so the painters could continue working on our normal meeting area. We voted in two new members, both transfers, Stephen Shive from branch 135 and Charles Stafer from branch 110. This month we will not be having a speaker so that everyone can socialize and I hope get to know the eight new members we have brought in so far this year.
Our nominating committee did a great job of putting up a full slate of candidates to fill all of the offices for 2018. The chairman, Ted Dzwonak, presented the slate of candidates to the BEC and the BEC accepted the nominations. The list of candidates is published in this bulletin and you will be asked to vote on them at the July luncheon so make sure you attend. I would like to point out and call special attention to the fact that our newest member Stephen Shive stepped up and volunteered to take the open director position on the BEC. This is the type of dedication that insures Sirs will continue into the future.
We have a new definition from the State Sir Organization on “What is a Sir”. George has posted it to our web site at sir paradise 52 so when you have a minute take a look.
We also had another fantastic Out to Lunch on June 28th. Unfortunately Bill McNelley, who has done an outstanding job of setting these up, and his wife Judy, were unable to attend because Bill was back into the hospital due to an infection following his surgery. We all send you our prayers and hope for a speedy recovery Bill. The thirteen people who attended had a very informative tour of the Hooker Oak Distillery in Chico which just opened in April and is already expanding. They produce rum in various flavors, provide recipes for drinks with the various rums and their whole operation, from equipment to materials, is from American made products. We then went to the restaurant “Two Twenty” in the Diamond Hotel located in downtown Chico. Everyone enjoyed the food and complimented the chef. Chef Michael came out to our table and introduced himself, gave a brief history on his experience, which is very impressive and a little history on the restaurant. Make sure you sign-up for the ”out to lunches” their great fun

Our Branch is at 72 ACTIVE members and 6 INACTIVE members bringing our Branch membership TOTAL to 78, withCharles Staser transferring from Branch 110 and Steve Shive transferring from Branch 135.
Ken Brown and Dutch Steffens were both moved to the INACTIVE list per their request’s.
Jim Radford was deleted from our membership lists due to his exceeding the Inactive Status for more than 12 months, Jim we understand has moved from our area.
We are still looking forward to seeing Bill Hopman (Sponsor Rick Stark) at the July meeting to become our newest member.
Invite your friends and acquaintances to join us for our luncheons or social events; Bowling, Golf, RV’ing, our summer Picnic in August and the Christmas dinner in December. Don’t forget to alert the Attendance chairman so they can make arrangements for you and your guests. The more guests we invite to join us the easier it will be to increase the chances of gaining new members, our membership history shows that if we averaged 2 guests per month we have the chance of obtaining our goal of 18 new members for this year. If you need a new membership application, the new updated form is on our Web Site.
Let's keep bringing in new members the rest of the year, and start to volunteer to fill the position that are available.
Please notify Sir Mike Johnson of any address or Phone # changes.

It is kind of hard to find, it is behind the old Berry Tire and the Subway Station. The building has been renovated and is home to offices and the Distillery. Free tasting of their Apple pie and Pineapple rum. There white rum is good also. You can buy at the store in front of the Brewery. Be on time as we are going to have lunch at 220. No! Not 2 o’clock, the restaurant at the Diamond Hotel down town Chico, 220 West 4th street. According to our big SIR Dave Moore the Chef Michael will visit our tables and give us some information on the Hotel and the restaurant. Chef Michael came to the 220 by way of several well-known restaurants in Chico. Thank you Dave for making all of this happen. Question? What was the name of the hotel and restaurant in the sixties?
