Priority Need / Goal (Addresses the Priority Need)
1. Staff Climate: Culture and Resource committee members agree there needs to be a more personal communication format to relay information, as well as ongoing ,"staff specific" events which will continue to build camaraderie inside/outside the school day.
2. Senior Award: Outstanding Senior Award to be given in place of Valedictorian award.
3. Survey Needs: Data needed to drive Culture and Resource activities.
4. Assist with Graduation.
5. Master Wish List: Communication tool between campus needs/teacher needs and volunteers looking for service.
6.To improve communication and turn-out for Fall Parent Teacher Conference Day.
7.Through the 2013 Culture & Resources survey for KSB staff members, 50% of staff responded that they were unfamiliar (10%), disagree (17.5%) or other (22.5%) that they were familiar with the extra-curricular student participation/eligibility policy. / 1. Improve communications and build camaraderie in an organized manner.
2. To formally establish criteria & name an Outstanding Senior award to be given at KSB graduation in place of valedictorian, based on feedback from proposal sent to SBDM & share this with Seniors.
3. Create survey for Culture and Resource concerns to give better information for committee domain.
4. Assist senior class sponsors with needed items for graduation.
5. KSB will collect & maintain input from all staff Create Master wish list of needs.
6.To improve communication related to and therefore attendance at the calendar Parent Teacher Conference Day scheduled for November 2013.
7. Improve staff awareness of the student participation/eligibility policy.
Causes and Contributing Factors / Objectives with Measures of Success
1. Master list of staff birthdays, addresses, phone tree, etc. is in infancy stage. 2013 Committee-specific survey stated that many activities helped staff morale: staff participation in KSB extracurricular events, Chili Cook off, Christmas Party & Secret Santa, March Madness, Derby Hat Charity Fundraiser, Extra Mile Award, etc.
2. Due to small class sizes and changes in student population, current trends are moving away from valedictorian awards. However, the committee felt an award needed to be given to recognize outstanding achievement.
3. Revise 2013 survey for future needs & evaluate current practices re: specific areas under our committee domain. (Attendance, staff morale, drug and alcohol awareness, spirit week needs, eligibility, senior awards criteria, behavior, registration day needs/best use of parent time).
4. Graduation assistance is under domain of Culture and Resource Committee.
5. There are a number of people with time and talent and treasure, but staff are not prepared on short notice to make use of these volunteers.
6. Contributing factors prior to PTS Conference Day turnout may be lack of communication to staff about PTS extra-duty pay if they stay to attend scheduled conferences. This will be clearly communicated to staff as well as parents.
As discussed at committee meetings, and survey from staff, showed trying the week prior to Thanksgiving Break may increase turnout for working parents, as well as traveling staff and families during Thanksgiving week.
7. This policy was revised by the Culture & Resources Committee and staff members may be unaware of the changes. / 1a. Each year, by the end of September, OPTIONAL master birthday, address, phone list will have been updated/revised as needed.
1b. By the end of September 2013, 4-5 events will be scheduled and specific duties involving organizing and advertising will be assigned. An informal head count of staff attendance will be taken at each event and evaluated each year.
2. By September 2013, criteria for a new award will be formally established (draft has been submitted to SBDM) and shared with staff and students. Award will then be given the current school year.
3. Starting November 2013, committee will begin revision (Received some weaknesses in previous survey related to Spirit Week, Red Ribbon Week, eligibility, etc. Survey will need to contain questions specifically related to these indicators) of the annual survey. Survey ready to distribute by January 2014.
4. December 2013, Begin to assist class sponsorswith items needed for graduation ceremony.
5. By end of September 2013, a master list will be updated and maintained.
6. Data will be collected tracking number of Conferences attended in 2012 vs. 2013. In addition, data will be collected by the Culture & Resources Committee survey related to PTS Conference Day in 2012 vs. 2013.
7. On the 2014 Culture & Resource Committee’s annual survey, staff awareness of the eligibility policy will increase to 75% agree.
