What’s Happening This Week? - tentative schedule

English-Students are studying prepositionsand prepositional phrases.Theyhave almost finishedmemorizing the preposition song. Most are doing great with it. Your child will do well on the test if they are reviewing it nightly. Preposition test will be Wednesday; it will include prepositions (song) and prepositional phrases. Please review information presented in class and homework to prepare for the test.

Reading - Studentsare enjoying the novel, Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. Your child’s notes and vocabulary will serve as his/her study guide for the test. The first test on Tuesdaywill cover Chapters 1-4.

Spelling-Unit 3 test on Thursday.The students wrote a list of their spelling words, and they are posted on our class website. Review spelling words nightly and complete homework to be ready for test.

Math- Test corrections for last week’s test will be due on Wednesday. Please read the letter about test corrections that went home in the VIP folder. Students may only correct math tests for extra credit, not daily math sheets. This week we will learn about ratios and rates. We will introduce these concepts by completing a Skittles lab in class. Students should use Math Journals to review for test on Friday.

Science- Chapter 2: The Tools of Science. Students will read and highlight Ch.2, as well as, watch various science videos in class. They will be given a homework quiz, which will be graded. Next week they will complete a Chapter 2 study guide and work in Lab Stations. We will also complete a density lab in class.

Social Studies-Students will be studying about early humans using the Social Studies Weekly

Newspaper. They will take a test on this information on Thursday using the newspaper.
