SECTION 235716 – STEAM-TO-WATER HEAT EXCHANGERS
PART 1 GENERAL
RELATED DOCUMENTS
Contractors, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, vendors, suppliers, etc. are cautioned that requirements of the Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification sections, apply to work of this section. Sections 230210, 230220, 230240, 230510, 230511, 230533, 230593, 230596, and 230924, must be reviewed for compliance with the requirements of this section.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
ASME Compliance: Construct heat exchangers in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII "Pressure Vessels," Division 1.
TEMA Compliance: Construct and install heat exchangers in accordance with standards of the Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association.
SUBMITTALS
General: Submittals shall demonstrate compliance with technical requirements by reference to each subsection of this specification. Where a submitted item does not comply fully with each and every requirement of the Specifications, the submittal shall clearly indicate such deviations. Identification requirements for non-complying features of items are very specific. See Section 230210 for exact requirements.
Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data for heat exchangers including performance data, materials, dimension, weights, and installation data.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
STEAMTOWATER UTUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS
General: Provide steamtowater Utube heat exchangers as indicated, of capacity as scheduled, and as specified herein.
Type: Shell and tube, Ubend removable tube bundle, steam in shell, water in tubes, equipped with mounting legs.
Materials:
Shell: Steel.
Tubes: 3/4" O.D.copper
Exception: Heat exchangers for swimming pool water heating shall be vented double wall construction for use on potable water systems. Tubes shall be constructed of ASTM Type 316L stainless steel.
Heads: Cast iron or steel.
Tube Sheets and Baffles: Steel.
Tube Supports: Steel.
Construction: ASME construction for 125 psi design pressure at 375oF.
PART 3 EXECUTION
HEAT-EXCHANGER INSTALLATION
Install heat exchangers as indicated on the Drawings, suspended from structure with continuous-thread hanger rods or base-mounted on structural steel frame in accordance with Section 230529, each sized to support weight of heat exchangers filled with water.
Install heat exchangers on saddle supports.
OWNER INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING
Provide Owner instruction and training in accordance with Section 230240.
