Position Title: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

Division: Enrollment Management

Department: Office of Admissions

Location:Farmington, Maine

Schedule:Regular, Full Time: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Some nights/weekends (3-6 Saturdays) for events, and 6 -12 weeks of travel required.

Reports to:Vice President for Enrollment / Associate Directors of Admissions

Statement of Job:

Engage and educateprospective first year students, transfers, parents, and counselors about the University of Maine at Farmington and overall college selection, application, and admission process. Responsible for all aspects and phases of college admission including recruitment, counseling, advising, and evaluation of prospective students and applicants. This role shares accountability in executing strategies that support enrollment goals. Ability to be positive and solution oriented in a transforming “One University” environment is expected.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide comprehensive support to all prospects from point of inquiry through the completion of the admission process and registration. This includes communicating with prospective students and answering questions about: program content, online learning, transfer equivalency, unofficial transcript review, admission process, and financial aid.
  • Successfully manage primary and secondary geographic territories by participating in the planning and implementing of enrollment and marketing strategies in these areas.
  • Conduct detailed evaluations of applicants seeking admission to UMF and determine admissibility. Prepare candidates for committee review.
  • Participate in staff meeting, committee, staff retreats and campus/community wide meetings.
  • Provide diligent travel reports and perform accurate expense accounting.
  • Must possess effective interpersonal communication, public speaking, and writing skills both with internal and external constituents.
  • Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and data collection, input and retrieval will be expected.

Special Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Manage Special Admissions Populations

May include Transfer, International Students, Honors Candidates, Farmington Fellows and other as assigned.

  • Oversee, Manage, and measure effectiveness of assigned admissions programs

May include Fall Recruitment Events, Spring Accepted Students, Off-Campus Regional Receptions, Social Media,& Other as assigned.

  • Work closely with the Alumni-in-Admissions Coordinator to strengthen engagement of Alumni in geographic territories.
  • Actively utilize TargetX customer relations management system, College Board Search, and internal data reports to perform geographic reporting and segmented communications campaigns.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge and Experience in high education administration and college and university admission; in depth understanding of the college admission process and the factors involved in making admission decisions. The position requires special sensitivity to the needs of all individuals regardless of race, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or country of origin. Excellent written and oral communication, budget management, presentation and interpersonal and organizational skills. The individual must be effective working independently and as a member of a team. The position requires extended hours including evenings and weekends, during various time periods. Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy loads. Possess an attitude that fosters acollaborative, respectful, solution orientated, workplace environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
  • Two or more years in a higher education or related field.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, and maintain ability to drive a University vehicle.
