The Old Stagecoach Inn at Bastrop was built by Judge Greenleaf Fisk for his bride, Mary Ann in 1836.
The MARY ANN FISK SCHOLARSHIP
INSTRUCTIONS: The application packet must be complete and arranged in the order listed below. ALL original transcripts, letters of recommendation and other required documents must be received by the scholarship chair by Friday, February 24, 2017. Scholarship will be awarded at 11:30 on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Stagecoach Inn in Bastrop, TX (1005 Hill Street), luncheon to follow at Baxter’s on Main Street.(Recipient must be present to win.)
Photographs will result in disqualification and should not be included. Applicant must have a 3.5 GPA or above. Scholarships are judged and awarded without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin or disability. The application package must be stapled in the top left hand corner not to exceed 15 pages. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

o Statement of 1000 words or less setting forth his/her career objectives (typed)
o A 500 word essay on “Judge Greenleaf Fisk in Bastrop Co. 1834-1845” (typed) w/bibliography of 2 references. Only one reference may come from the internet. Wikipedia page on Fisk is all right, as it was researched and proved by family members.
o Original transcript of high school (must indicate class rank, size and test scores)
Home schooled students include transcripts for grades 9 through 12.
o Two letters of recommendation/ Letter should cover the applicant’s
ability, work habits, integrity, character, potential and volunteer activities.(typed)
o List of extra-curricular activities, honors received and scholastic achievements, (one side of 8 1/2'' x 11'' paper, (typed).
o Photocopy of United States citizenship: birth certificate, naturalization papers
o Scholarship open to all students, regardless of financial need, meeting the 3.5 GPA
o Self-addressed stamped postcard.

ONLY THE WINNER is notified of judge’s decisions following approval by the Scholarship Committee. At time of notification, the applicant notified of a pending scholarship award will be required to submit to the scholarship chairman their social security number, college attending and school program. Scholarship must be used within one year of date of award or it is
forfeited.
