UMBT Community Events Committee
Meeting Minutes November 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
Liaison John Bermingham, Chairman to the Board of Supervisors opened the meeting at 5:00 p.m. In attendance were Terry Stiso, Amber Doherty, Marie James, Don Black, Breanna Johnson, Tiffany Hayward & Samantha Perucci.
Absent: Heather Masar, Susan Frutchey-Brown & alternate Michelle Kotretsos.
Business to discuss: John welcomed the new committee and asked everyone to go around the room and introduce themselves.
John reviewed some of the Committee functions such as: Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Party the Recreation Board will be turning over, they will assist in the parties. Bus Trips: The Recreation Board has not had bus trips in quite a few years. John said they are bringing them back and went on their first trip this year to Longwood Gardens. Bus trips will be part of this committee functions. Marie James indicated she is on the committee for Hackettstown senior bus trips for over 10 years. She said they bid out their bust trips as a group package that keeps the cost down of the bus. Other events the Committee will be doing is the 4th of July Parade with Portland Borough (they will be arriving 5:30 tonight to meet the committee), 3 movie nights in the park, 2nd Fall Festival, 2nd Craft Fair (that is led by the Community Park Committee, this committee can assist) 1st Veterans Appreciation Dinner, maybe Fridays at the Park during July & August (that also needs to go through the Community Park Committee) Sharon Cerny is the Chairman of that committee.
Board of Supervisors Update– Tiffany Hayward’s appointment is on the BOS agenda at 7:00 p.m. for approval.
The UMBT / Portland Borough Parade Committee arrived at 5:30 p.m. and introduced themselves to the Community Events Committee. Lance Prator mentioned the application for the parade.
New Business: Organization of the Committee. Chairman - MOTION by Breanna Johnson, second by Terry Stiso to appoint Tiffany Hayward. Vote: 7-0. Vice-Chairman – MOTION by John Bermingham, second by Tiffany Hayward to appoint Don Black. Vote: 7-0. Secretary – MOTION by Tiffany Hayward, second by Don Black to appoint Breanna Johnson. Vote: 7-0.
