Military/Avionic Touch Monitors

Insync Peripherals has been in military touch monitor and backlight business over eighteenyears. These display products are mission critical meeting military display harash environmental requirements, including NVIS and sunlight readability capability. During these past eighteen years, Insync has developed over ten military display and backlight programs and have advanced our military display technology. Insync Peripherals Corporation is a minority owned company.

Here is a representative of Insync display product for military. It is an 12.1” XGA monitor requirementsbased on the following.

  1. Our twelve years of military display experience.
  2. Minor modification of our existing 12.1” waterproof touch screen monitor. See attached file for monitor enclosure mechanical outline drawing.

Technical Discussion

1.0 Display: 12.1” Raw panel by NEC P/N: NL10276BC24-13 or equivalent.

Resolution: 1024 x 768; Modified to LED backlight for 1,200 nits

Input video VGA with waterproof 15-pin D-Sub connector

2.0 Operating Temperature: -30C to +60C (Mil-Std-810F Method 501.4 and 502.4)

3.0 Shock: Mil-Std-810F Method 514.5’ level to be defined.

4.0 Vibration: Mil-Std-810F Method 514.5; level to be defined.

5.0 Power: Input +24VDC (+18VDC to +36VDC); 25watts; Mil-Std-1275B (100K to 500K resonant

frequency at 250VPeak; +/-40VDC for 50mS; AC ripple voltages to be defined); Use

Vicor +24V-to-+12 DC converter; P/N: V1-JW1-IZ or equivalent

6.0 EMI: Mil-Std-461E; tests to be defined.

7.0 NVIS Compatibility: Mil-L-3009 and Sunlight Readability

For NVIS, we will meet Mil-L-3009, Type 1, Class B for Multi-Color Displays. See

NVIS data on Appendix A at the end of this proposal.

For Day mode, we will use high efficiency LED backlight to output 1,200 nits to

the viewer plus optical bonding to remove all internal layer reflection. Estimated

backlight power consumption is 12 Watts.

To accomplish both Day mode and NVIS mode, we use a single micro-prism light guide and configured shown in attached drawing. See Figure 2, Single Micro-Prism Light Guide. The temperature of the micro-prism light guide material exceeds +95C without deformation.

In the drawing, two light expenders are positioned along the two short sides of the main light guide to channel NVIS light from the four LEDs during nighttime viewing. On each of the light expender, two LEDs and two NVIS filters form two LED/filter pairs. The NVIS filter filters the light from the LED and spread the NVIS light across the entire light guide though the light expanders.

8.0 Touch Screen operable with standard military gloves;: Our touch screen is a glass-on-glass resistive type with anti-glare coating. Its light transmission is very high typically 94% with very little haze, designed especially for crisp images and operable with standard military gloves. It also provides finger-print resistant and durability over 60 millions touches plus surviving under harsh chemical environment. The entire unit is waterproof. 9.0Display must enable blackout capability. An On/Off power button at front panel can be used to blackout the display monitor.
