GOD IS JUDGE
2 CORINTHIANS 5:10; REVELATION 20:11-15
1. God Will Judge Unbelievers Regarding their Rejection of Christ
A. Scripture teaches Christ is the only way to salvation
John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Acts 4:12 (NIV) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
B. Scripture teaches those who reject Christ will be judged by God for their rejection
Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV) “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
John 3:18 (NIV) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
C. Scripture teaches the judgment of those who reject Christ is hell

2. God Will Judge Believers Regarding their Works
A. The believer is saved through faith in Christ

B. The believer’s salvation is assured and secure

C. The believer still faces judgment based on his/her works for God

Romans 14:12 (NIV) – So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God

D. The believer’s judgment includes the motivation behind his/her actions
1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 Corinthians 4:5 (NIV) Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
