Brief report of Mathru from January- June 2010
Month of January
On 26th January, Mathru celebrated Republic day of our country . Guests of the occasion were Smt. Saroja Ramachandran, President of National Association for the Blind and Mr. T.V. Jagadeesh, H.R. , Goetz India ltd.
On 23rd January, Mathru celebrated its 9th Annual day and this year Mathru focused more on the parents of the students and invited all the parents and also honored two parents of senior students. Guests of the occasion were Dr. N. K. Srinivasa, Managing Trustee, ABC-India, Mr. Rana Nanjappa, Volunteer, Asha for Education New Jersey Chapter, U.S.A, Mrs. Shalini Nataraj, H.R. consultant, Target India, Sri. Srinivas Bhat, parent of first student of Mathru, Kavya S. Bhat, Mr. Yerappa, parent of second student of Mathru. Nearly 25 items of cultural programme was presented by the students of all sections. Games were also organized for the parents after the lunch break. At the end, gifts were given to all the parents.
On 28th of January, Bhoomipooja was performed in the land granted by the Government of Karnataka. Local political leaders, well-wishers and supporters of Mathru attended the pooja and wished for the new project.
Month of Febrary
In the month of February preparatory exams were conducted.
Month of March
Annual exams were conducted from March 7 to 14th. Results were declared on 20th of March. Parents meeting was held on 20th of March. progress report of annual exams were distributed and children were sent for summer vacation. School remained closed from March 20th to May 20th .
Month of April
Mathru started its financial year 2010-2011 from 1st of April.
Construction work of new project i.e., hostel for college students, free residential school for deaf-blind and vocational training centre was started on April 28th 2010.
Month of May
On 25th of May, 2010, Mathru started a free residential school for the
deaf-blind and multisensory ( with blindness ) disabled children. This year
Mathru has given admission for 6 deserving children who are suffering
from deaf-blindness and multisensory disability, who are from very poor
families.
Mathru has appointed two special educators for its new project and also one care taker to look after the multisensory disabled children. Two
more teachers for the blind school and a warden has also been appointed this Academic year. Research Students of Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore, supported for the infrastructure of the new project.
Mathru is supporting 7 visually impaired students to do their pre
university education in this academic year by providing free
accommodation, food, study materials, paying their college fee etc.,.
14 visually impaired students of Mathru were passed out in first year Pre-
university examination and are continuing their second year studies at
Mathru.
Month of June
School reopened on the 1st of June .
College for the pre-university students started on 8th
