- Hear and consider President’s report on the year’s activities.
- Elect the Board Members for 2017/2018, including positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer. See statements from Board members attached as Schedule “A”.
- Hear and consider the Treasurer’s report and consider and approve the financial statements for the year-ended January 31, 2017.
- Appointthe Audit Committee for the fiscal year ending January 31, 2018.
SCHEDULE “A”
Proposed CVFC Board Members for Re-election 2017/2018:
Chris Baker, Senior Geologist, Tamarack Valley. Chris was one of the founding members of the Calgary Villains in 1981, shortly after immigrating from England. Mr Baker has been ever present in coaching and managerial roles in the Villains structure as it has grown from one team playing in the Calgary Commercial League to a club that has an elite Men's team playing in the Alberta Major Soccer League and a youth club system with around 700 registrants each summer. Mr Baker has served as President of Calgary Villains since the late 1980s and has been President of Elbow Valley Soccer Association since 2006.
Kara Smyth, Litigation Partner, McCarthy Tetrault LLP. Kara has been secretary of the club since she joined in 2011. She had two boys play with the the Club in Tier 1 and 2 through to U18 and currently has a son playing U12. She would like to remain a Board member and help contribute to ensuring that the club is a success offering kids the opportunity to play soccer at all levels.
JJ Iacuone, chartered professional accountant and a partner at KPMG LLP. JJ has been a board member and Treasurer since 2013. He would like to be a board member for the CVFC so that he can continue to help the club. JJ has one son in U12 and he and his wife are active volunteers in the Club.
Dan Harper, owner, Harper Tires. Dan has been a board member since 2005 and would like to remain on the Board. Dan brings business expertise to the Board but more importantly, loves to see kids enjoy the game.
Stuart Gurden, Reservoir Engineering Manager at Africa Oil Corp. Stuart has been involved with the club since 2008 coaching House League and both boys’ and girl’s city league teams. He joined the Board at the beginning of 2015. He would like to help the club to grow a larger base of players across more divisions and, particularly, help to develop higher participation among the girls’ teams.
Paul Valentine, Volvo Car Retailer. Paul has been a Board member since 2009 and is a life long soccer fan. He has one child in the Villains programs.
Krysta Ostwald, Partner WK Family Law Lawyers. Krysta became a Board member in the fall of 2014 and would like to remain on the Board. Krysta has two boys in the club.
