August 8, 2014

Dear Staff & Preble Families,

As many of you may have heard, there was fire damage that has been isolated to the gym in the south end of the building at Preble High School this morning. The cause of the fire is not confirmed, and is still under investigation. The fire caused no injuries. Smoke damage is evident throughout the entire building, although the extent is unknown.

A restoration company is on site and will begin clean-up in the north front entrance of the building and will work its way south. The team has been mobilized and work will take place around the clock. As of now, preliminary indicators show that school should resume as scheduled on September 2, 2014.

We are so grateful to our community partners who have offered their support in this time of need. We appreciate the prompt response of our local fire departments, law enforcement and all first responders.

To enable us to clean and restore the building effectively, we ask that staff, students, and community members please stay away from the building until further notice. Please be assured that as we learn more information, we will communicate with you as promptly as possible.

Upcoming changes to activity schedules at Preble are as follows:

·  There will be no open gym until further notice.

·  Students who were attending summer school should report on Monday morning (August 11) to Edison Middle School, 442 Alpine Drive. Classroom assignments will be posted outside the main office.
