Once the worksheet has been completed and accepted by the Intentional Interim Specialist and the Board of Directors, a copy will be forwarded to the Coordinator of Transition and Interim Ministry to be placed in a legal format for signatures.

Whereas the Intentional Interim Specialist has been appointed by the Elder in the Office of Church Life and Health and approved by the Board of Directors of the church, and whereas the parties hereto mutually desire to build a relationship as set forth herein, and in consideration of the mutual promises, covenants, and agreements set forth herein, the church hereby employs the Intentional Interim Specialist as the spiritual leader of the church.

In keeping with the guidelines for interim ministry in the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, and in order to set forth clearly the agreement for interim services between (CHURCH’S NAME) and the Rev. (MINISTER), the following compensation covenant is agreed upon:

That (MINISTER) will begin service as Intentional Interim Specialist on (DATE). This contract shall be in effect for ___ months beginning on (DATE) and ending on (DATE), and by mutual agreement of the Intentional Interim Specialist, the Elder, and the Board of Directors, may be extended in 3 or 6-month increments.

That Rev. ______will be primarily responsible for guiding the congregation through the developmental tasks of the interim process.

That Rev. ______will provide daily oversight of the church and serve as Moderator of the Board of Directors.

That Rev. ______will provide supervision for those who provide pastoral care to the congregation but will not be primarily responsible for pastoral care during the period of the intentional interim process. Pastoral care being defined as hospital, care, bereavement support, and spiritual counseling relating to relationships.

• (CHURCH) agrees to pay an annual sum of $______($______monthly) to the Intentional Interim Specialist, such amount to be apportioned between cash salary, housing allowance, or deferred salary in a 403b as allowed by IRS/Country regulations, and requested by the Interim Pastor. The apportionment will be recorded in the notes of the Board of Directors in a manner that meets all legal requirements.

Should this contract be extended beyond the initial period as mentioned above, the Board of Directors will consider increasing the salary for the extended period.

  • The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT provide transportation, WILL or WILL NOT provide lodging, WILL or WILL NOT provide registration fees, and WILL or WILL NOT provide per diem to attend authorized Network (WILL or WILL NOT), or Fellowship (WILL or WILL NOT) conferences as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The (CHURCH) WILL/ WILL NOT pay moving expenses. (If WILL, what is the amount “not to exceed”? ______) (Remember to include hotel, transportation and a food allowance. Cash flow may be an issue in the move so consider fronting all or part of the figure to your new interim before they move and have them document with receipts.)
  • The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT pay for the Intentional Interim Specialist to visit in order to procure lodging and set up utilities before moving. (If WILL, what is amount “not to exceed”? ______)(Remember to include hotel, transportation and a food allowance. Cash flow may be an issue in the move so consider fronting all or part of the figure to your new interim before they move and have them document with receipts. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, it is much better to put the Interim in a hotel rather than provided housing with a member. This is a stressful time and it will help maintain boundaries.)
  • The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT pay ______% of the Intentional Interim Specialist’s Social Security taxes, payable to the IRS in quarterly installments on January 10, April 10, June 10, and September 10.

In addition, (CHURCH) agrees to support the work of the Intentional Interim Specialist through:

Vacation: 5 days of paid vacation for every 13 weeks of employment. No more than (1) week (that would include 2 Sundays) may be taken consecutively without approval of the Board of Directors. Up to two weeks of accrued, but not taken, vacation days shall be compensated for at the end of the contract period.

Holidays: 10 days - (New Year's Day, Interim Pastor's Birthday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Easter Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day) If pastoral duties necessitate the Intentional Interim Specialist working on any stated holiday, a compensating day off shall be taken at the Interim Pastor's discretion

  • As needed, a Sunday off approximately every 12 weeks. Provided in vacation if needed. Yes or NO
  • Sick days off to accrue at the rate of 8 hours per month - and if not used at the end of the contract period, not to be compensated for
  • The Intentional Interim Specialist shall have two (2) days off from pastoral duties each week. These days, exclusive of Sunday (with the exceptions approved by the Board of Directors), may be of the Interim Pastor's choosing. If pastoral duties necessitate the Interim Pastor working on any stated day off, a compensating day may be taken at the Interim Pastor's discretion.
  • Any additional leave must receive prior approval by the Board of Directors.
  • The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT pay Workers’ Compensation and other coverage as required by State/Country law.
  • The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT also provide the following:

The Intentional Interim Specialist shall be entitled to five (5) paid days for bereavement leave for attending the funeral of a close family member. Bereavement leave should be coordinated with the Board of Directors of the church. A close family member is defined as: a spouse/partner, brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter, stepchildren, mother-in-law (or equivalent), father-in-law (or equivalent), brother-in-law (or equivalent), sister-in-law (or equivalent), grandparents, and legal guardian. This time shall not be charged against vacation days and shall not be carried over to the next year if unused. Time off to attend the funeral for an individual not covered under the definition of a close family member, or additional days beyond the five (5) bereavement leave days, may be charged to vacation and must be coordinated with the Board of the church.

The (CHURCH) WILL or WILL NOT provide a church cell phone for the Intentional Interim Specialist's use (church and personal).

The (CHURCH) WILL reimburse the Intentional Interim Specialist for all church-related expenses for which the pastor has paid from his/her personal financial resources, when accompanied by an authorized receipt.

In case of disability of theIntentional InterimSpecialist because of illness or accident, The (CHURCH) WILL orWILL NOT be responsible for the Intentional Interim Specialist’s full support for the first three months of disability. This paragraph does not apply to any disability that qualifies under Workers’ Compensation insurance.

Only the Elder may terminate an appointment. Unless there are mitigating circumstances, there will be a thirty (30) days written notice. Following the expiration of this thirty (30) day written-notice period, all payments and reimbursements under this Agreement shall cease and no further payments or reimbursements shall be required.

The (CHURCH)and the Intentional Interim Specialist will provide copies of this agreement to the congregation as requested and to the Coordinator of Transition and Interim Ministry.
