Dear Club President,

Attached is the announcement Package for the 2013 Labrador Divisionals , to be held January 19th, 2013 at the Ebert J Broomfield Arena in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador.

Please copy and distribute the package to all qualified skaters and coaches in your Club.

Parents mustensure that all information is fully completed with photos and a copy of current Skate Canada Membership.

Club cheques should be made payable to Snowflake Skating Club. All forms must be received on or before December 30th, 2012.Incomplete forms may be returned, possibly causing ineligibility.

Announcement

2013 Labrador Divisionals

General Information

The 2013 Labrador Divisionals will be conducted in accordance with the 2012-2013 Skate Canada NL Technical Package. The technical package can be viewed at:

The practice and competition arena is the Ebert J Broomfield Arena with an ice surface of 200 X 85. The arena is currently undergoing some renovations which are expected to be completed before the Labrador Divisional Competition.

Entry Information

Entry forms must be forwarded to Delia Connell, Event Chair, on or before December 30th, 2012 and must contain a copy of Skate Canada Membership along with photos and appropriate fees.

Entry Fees

Entry fees are as follows:

$ 40.00 entry fee per category

$60.00 entry fee for combined events (Pre-novice & higher)

In addition, a $7.00officials and technology development fee per skater is charged. Please forward this amount to your home club, who will write one club cheque and forward to the host-Snowflake Skating Club.

Competitors entering more than one event must complete an entry form foreach event. Entries will not be accepted unless a copy of the current Skate Canada Membership Card is attached.

Registration

Registration will be held at the Ebert Broomfield Arena on the evening of January 18th, 2013 and one hour prior to event schedule commencing on Saturday, January, 19th. Specific times for registration will be posted on Snowflake Web Site prior to competition. The web site address is:

Fun Night Activity

Mr. Nick Gibbs and Ms. Kerry Matthews are organizing a fun night for all skaters on Saturday, January 19th. Specifics regarding fun night and the cost per skater will be posted on Snowflake web site as soon as they are available.

Photography

Photography will be provided for all events by a local photographer, Ms. Trina Coles. Photography forms will be available during registration and will also be posted on the Snowflake web site in advance of the competition.

Music

Each skatermust provide two CDsfor the competition upon registration. One for competition (marked “Master”) and one for back-up (“marked copy”). The standard specification for CDs is:

  1. Only one program shall be recorded on each CD.
  2. The start of the music shall be recorded on the Cd with less than two seconds of lead in.
  3. Competitor’s name followed by music time (not skating time) shall be clearly printed on side one of CD.
  4. Each CD shall be enclosed in plastic container marked with the skater’s name, event and total music time.

Accommodations

All entrants are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodations.

Snowflake Skating Club has a block of rooms held at Hotel North at a rate of $ 135.00 per night. In order to avail of this special rate, you must advise the hotel when booking that you wish to book one of Snowflake Skating Club’s rooms for Labrador Divisionals. Any rooms not booked by December,20th,2012 will be released to other members of the public. It is very difficult to book hotels in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, so please remember to book your hotel early should you require this type of accommodation.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies

Opening ceremonies will be held on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at the Ebert J Broomfield Arena. All skaters except those competing immediately following opening ceremonies are expected to participate. Skaters should wear their appropriate team suits and have their Club banner.

Closing ceremonies will commence immediately following the last category of competition on Saturday, January 19th, 2013. All medals and awards will be presented at this time and the ceremony will be held on ice. Medals will be given to the top three skaters in each event.

Qualifying Categories

Skaters qualifying to go to Provincials must indicate whether they will be attending and home clubs must submit all related entry fees immediately following the Divisional competition, cheque made payable to Provincial Host.

Please note that Provincials is a qualifying event for Skate Atlantica. Skaters must indicate whether they will be attending should they qualify. Home Clubs must submit all related entry fees immediately following the Provincial Championships.

Pre-Preliminary Categories/Event

Pre-Preliminary skating events will be held immediately following the opening ceremonies on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 followed by the qualifying categories for Provincials.

Preliminary/Higher Categories /Events

All preliminary and higher categories will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 following pre-preliminary categories. Schedule with exact times of competition events will be announced after all applications are received.

Byed Categories

Skaters with a bye to Provincials (please see SCNL Technical Package) DO NOT registerfor Provincials through the Labrador Divisional host.

Registration for byed categories goes directly to the Provincials host Committee and there will be a separate announcement from the provincials host for these categories.
