Training

Fall and Spring Outdoors:

  • We train at the DASC Training Grounds in Harrisburg.
  • 3x per week
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
  • Monday and Tuesday will be technical and tactical Training
  • Thursday will be shooting and scrimmage
  • Early Group – 5.45-6.55
  • Late Group – 7-8.10
  • Players can switch groups to help with schedule, just let me know first.
  • The week before a tournament, I may change the groups to have players train in their tournament teams.
  • There will be no training the Monday after a tournament or the Monday after a Sunday Event (matchup league etc.)
  • Since we are training 3x per week, there will be breaks during the season to keep the girls fresh
  • We will be renting a light for the training ground for the latter part of the Fall.

Winter Indoors:

  • The club will publish the fieldhouse schedule
  • We will work out groups based on that schedule
  • I would like to try to find an alternate venue to use on occasion

What to expect from your coaches:

  • Professional Attitude
  • Full attention on the team and the play during every training session and match
  • Prompt response to any phone call, text or email.
  • Availability and approachability.
  • Coaches will show respect to players and parents
  • No matter how talented your daughter is, whether she is the strongest or weakest player, your coaches will do everything they can to make your daughter improve as a player, and to make this team improve consistently.

Coaching Philosophy:

Goals for the year

  • HAVE FUN
  • Individual Development. We want every player to get better throughout the season
  • Team development. We will try to improve as a team. This will be reflected in the way we play, not necessarily in results. The results will come with improved play.
  • Sense of team and club. We are trying to have the girls forge a bond with each other. They will be playing together for many years, so a good sense of teamwork and togetherness

Coaching style:

Lots of activities end going to goal.

We will keep all players moving as much as possible during training.

Every session will have a theme and a goal. We try to minimize standing around time.

We have a fun but disciplined approach to training.

What coaches expect from players

Training

-Show up on time

-Show up with a positive attitude ready to play

-Sign attendance sheet when you show up.

-Dress appropriately

-Shin guards,

-White t-shirt (NOT GAME JERSEY) – No tank tops or spaghetti straps

-Soccer shorts, no short shorts!

-Train like it’s a match. Put 100% effort into training.

-Do NOT talk when your coach is talking

-Listen to coaches

-Practice outside of training

Tournaments

-Get to field 30 mins before games

-Be dressed appropriately, in team jersey, shorts and socks.

-Wear black jersey if we are home, white if we are away.

-ALWAYS bring other jersey to all games in case we have to change

-Wear and under shirt in case you have to change.

-Bring a positive attitude at all games at all teams.

-We put in 100% whether we are winning or losing.

-For early morning games, we will have a morning run or exercise 2 hours before kick off.

-If we have 2 teams at a tournament, players are required to attend both teams games.

Playing time

Not guaranteed at 50%.

Will get as close as possible to that, but there will be times when certain players get more game time.

Parent expectations:

  • Get your kid to training and games ON TIME!
  • Be the girls biggest supporter!!
  • Leave the coaching to the coaches. You pay us to coach, please trust us to coach!

Sometimes we are trying to get the girls to do specific things, especially transitioning to 8v8.

  • Words I do not want to hear: SEND IT, KICK IT, KICK HER, RUN.
  • Be positive after the game. Do not analyze the game on the car ride home. Do not place extra pressure on your child. We put enough pressure on them, and they are 10 year old girls. It’s going to be a great year. Let’s play some football
