English Language Arts (ELA)

“Journeys Common Core 2013” The online resources are in Think Central: (http://www-k6.thinkcentral.com) See grade level Pacing Guides. Online webinars available for PD. Webinar Password: 2016HMHBTS. Two benchmark assessments given and results collected – Benchmark 3 in December and Benchmark 5 in April/May.

Math

Eureka Math (www.greatminds.org ) Print materials for each student and packets of materials for teachers. See grade level Pacing Guides. Online Suite subscription for new teachers and principal plus other key teachers that includes PD videos. Staff share online logins. Parent Tip sheets available for each student for each classroom. Homework Helpers – one set per teacher; copy as needed.

Science

Year one of transition to new Next Generation Science Standards. Focus for 2016-17 is “Science & Engineering Practices” and “Crosscutting Practices.” SAC members will share resources with peers. Use FOSS for grades K-4, three kits per grade level (www.fossweb.com) Each grade level’s kits are listed at www.usd417.net . 5th grade see below.

Social Studies

Follow the theme for your grade level, link to themes on www.usd417.net, Grades K-4 new HMH Social Studies 2012 hard back resources. Grade 5 Pearson “Building My Country.” Books are resources – pacing guides do not have to reflect finishing the entire book. Each K-4 grade level has a document that shows alignment to Journeys lessons. KS Studies Weekly magazine at Grade 4.

Handwriting

“Handwriting Without Tears” (www.hwtears.com). Remember that 5th and 6th graders must use cursive handwriting the entire year.

Guidance/Social

Use Olweus lessons during Class Meetings. During this school year we will be examining Connect with Kids videos and Career Cruising to see how all three of these programs align with the Social, Emotional, and Character Development (SECD) Standards.

“HMH Collections” (my.hrw.com). One set of end-of-course benchmark (local) assessments collected each year. Reteaching and then modifying grades on benchmark assessments is encouraged to help students learn, however the set of results that is submitted will be unmodified.
