BECOMING AN INFORMED PARENTYouth Protection Training

So I admit at first I said really do I need to take this training? Well, now that I have I’m glad I did. This is a simple way to become aware of the Boy Scouts of America policies regarding Youth Protection. There may even be some things you never thought about.

Feel free to take any additional training you would like. There is SO much information out there! The more parents involved the better events & more fun we all have. It takes a Pack to raise a Cub!

You can do these trainings in one of two ways.

  1. on-line at scouting.org
  2. at a District or Council face-to-face training

Steps for on-line Training

  1. Go to
  2. In the upper right-hand corner – create an account by clicking on “start here”
  3. Create an account with your unique user name and password (you set these).
  4. On the left hand side – click on “E Learning”
  5. At this point, there will be information regarding what training you need under the “E-Learning Management System”.
  6. Click on “Cub Scout” on the tabs below this information
  7. This will show you the trainings offered, starting with YPT. Use this area to take the trainings you need for your position.
  8. It will ask for a Membership ID number. You will not have one if you are a new BSA member. You will receive this number once your registration has been processed, and can enter it into your profile. These and all future trainings will be automatically entered on your profile. (ONLY PARENTS WHO HAVE A BSA CARD WILL ALREADY HAVE A NUMBER. THESE CURRENT CARDS WERE HANDED OUT AT THE APRIL 2013 PACK MEETING.)
  9. SAVE AND PRINT TWO COPIES of your Certificates. Hold on to one, and get the other to your Unit Leader who will send it to the Scout Service Center for validation purposes. Email Committee Chair when done. :o)
