Calona Vineyards Artist Series tells a story that begins on the label and finishes on your palate. It’s about award-winning wines and wonderful art brought together to reflect each other’s brilliance. Each painting is carefully selected for the special way it evokes the unique flavour of the wine. Calona Vineyards is proud to present BC artist Glenn Romasanta. The Yearning is a bold testament to the intense emotion of love and loss, a haunting echo of the complex unity of two noble grapes in our Cabernet Merlot. It’s an exhibition of individual taste and a showcase for the wines of Calona Vineyards.

CABERNET MERLOT 2011

Deep ruby red colour with a bouquet of red berry and black cherry, accented by a touch of tobacco, oak and spice. This medium-bodied red wine has soft tannins and flavours of red berry, black cherry, plum and spice. Black tea and currant notes linger through on the dry finish.

WINEMAKERS NOTES

Classic red varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, combined in a blend, often give a richer, more satisfying sensory experience than the individual wines. We use the fruit (48% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon) from our best vineyards in Penticton and Oliver to make this blend. A touch of (1%) Syrah is also added for extra depth of flavour.
