Chief Information Officer

Head of IT in a company of 20,000 employees in Chile and 2,000 inArgentina and Peru. Directed 40 IT internal professionals and subcontractors, delivering services in more than 400 geographical primary locations and 3,500 secondary locations where the company operates. Managed a US$ 4 million annual budget. Experience in SOX standard reporting to corporate headquarters in the U.S.

  • Directed the IT executive team responsible for providing IT platforms and services that controlled company operations in the hundreds of locations where clients receive the services, contributing with this technology to a 4% margin improvement (US$ 1.4 million).
  • Directed the IT and administrative consolidation and redesign process during a merger of three big companies with 6,000, 7,000 and 3,000 employees. Projected annual savings: US$ 3 million.
  • Led analysis and renegotiation of IT contracts and external services, with projected annual savings of US$ 1.8 million.

FONDO NACIONAL DE SALUD - FONASA (Public Social Health Org.) 1998 - 2000

Responsible for the technological services of voice and data networks, information and institutional systems, providing service to the national network of Fonasa users, with 10 million registered beneficiaries. Experience in IT systems involving multiple governmental organizations: Ministry of Health, Controller’s Office, Ministry of Finance, etc.

  • Directed 35 professionals, administrative staff and technical personnel. Subcontractors' counterpart, with over 300 persons working directly for the contracted projects.
  • Directed the Public Collective Health Insurance System, which provides services to over 200 offices and sites (branches, hospitals and offices). Responsible for the Payroll system for the 65,000 workers in the Chilean Health Sector and for Fonasa's Integrated Accounting System, which manages all the Health Sector resources assigned by the Ministry of Finance.
  • Managed a US$ 10 million IT annual budget. Directed the first platform change from a client – server architecture to a 3-tier architecture model.

Created a new IT Department, following a strategy defined by new owners who bought the company in 1998.

Restructured the IT Department, replacing hardware and software platforms, and reorganized internal functions. Supported and installed a new enameling plant based on robotics technology.

Created and started operations of the IT Department of Bagir Garment Division, a company producing 3,000 garments daily with 1,200 employees. Directed the IT team that developed administrative systems, planning and production control, and acquisitions. Installed and supported a robotics plant for the Cutting Area. Headed the pioneering introduction of Unix and Informix databases in Chile (1988).
