Job title: Recreation Assistant
Department: Wellington Health & Fitness Club
Responsible to: Operations Manager
Responsible for N/A
Job purpose: To provide a first class level of service to members within the Club, and to support the Duty Manager in the efficient day to day operation of the Club
Main duties:
- Maintaining a safe pool environment through excellent lifeguarding practices.
- Delivering excellent customer service.
- To assist the Duty Manager in setting up activities in all of the Club facilities.
- Assisting in the cover of bar duties.
- Assisting in all areas of the club, including gym, reception and crèche as required.
- Cleaning the pool area and changing facilities and ensuring that all areas of poolside are allocated and cleaned efficiently.
- Attendance at regular pool training.
Additional duties:
- To co-operate with your designated mentor and to be allocated an area of responsibility such as first aid stock, lost property or shop sales which may include monthly stock takes.
- To clean as and when required all areas of the Club and its facilities.
- To provide event work cover including set ups and de rigs and event bars.
- Any other duties as directed by the Operations Manager, commensurate with post holders level of responsibility

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Details
£6.51 per hour
Hours of Work
Your hours of work will beas and when required throughout the year. Shifts will include some day, evenings and weekends.
Overtime
In exceptional circumstances you may be required to work overtime which time off in lieu will be granted
Holidays and holiday pay
The holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
a)Up to 5 years continuous employment – 20 days (pro rata in your first year).
b)6 years service – 21 days.
c)7 years service – 22 days.
d)8 years service – 23 days.
e)9 years service – 24 days.
f)After ten years continuous employment – 25 days.
g)Statutory Bank Holidays that fall in school holiday periods.
h)Statutory holidays that fall in term time if your duties allow it.
i)Christmas holiday – four normal working days, the dates of which will be set by the College.
j)Part-time staff will receive pro-rata paid holidays, linked to the conditions stated above.
- Holiday pay will not accrue during periods of unpaid leave.
Provision of meals
You will be entitled to a free lunch from Monday to Friday during term time. In holiday periods dates will be published by the Bursar when lunch is available.

Employees are eligible for individual membership of the H&FClub at a cost of £4 per month
Social Club Facilities
The membership fee is currently £4 per month, renewed in February.

There is a contributory College Pension Scheme which all Support Staff over 16 and under 65 may join after three months satisfactory service. The minimum contribution rate is 5%, the College contributes 11% of your salary.
