PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

1.3 SUBMITTALS

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01330 - Submittal Procedures:

1. Product data for scoreboards, controls, and accessories. Include descriptions of control functions.

2. Shop drawings showing face layout, dimensions, construction, and electrical wiring diagrams.

3. Finish samples.

4. Copy of guarantee required by Paragraph 1.5 for review by Architect.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Source limitation: All components including scoreboard, control center, control cable, and other accessories shall be products of a single manufacturer.

B. Manufacturer qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing electronic scoreboards with 10 years minimum successful experience.

C. Scoreboards and other electrically components shall be certified for use in United States and Canada by Underwriter Laboratories, (UL), Inc. and shall bear UL or C-UL label.

D. Scoreboards shall be fabricated in compliance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) C22.2 No. 207-M89.

1.5 GUARANTEE

***** Nevco scoreboards are provided with 5 years parts and labor guarantee with the exception that wireless control equipment is provided with 2 years guarantee. Edit the following to indicate if wireless control units are being specified. *****

A. Provide under provisions of Section 01780 - Closeout Submittals: Guarantee to cover defects in materials and workmanship.

1. 5 years parts and labor guarantee for scoreboards, wired controls, and accessories.

2. 2 years part and labor guarantee for wireless controls and receivers.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

B. Requests to use equivalent products of other manufacturers shall be submitted in accordance with Section 01630 - Product Substitution Procedures.

2.2 MATERIALS

A. Aluminum: [0.032 inch] [0.8 mm] minimum thickness, ASTM B221 aluminum sheet.

B. Construction: Fabricate portable scoreboards with aluminum faces and reinforced plastic.

1. Form scoreboard with radiused corners.

2. Provide recessed spring loaded metal handle on top of scoreboard.

C. Finish: Black acrylic polyurethane paint.

D. Electronics: Low voltage, solid state, 2-wire cable, multiplex system, quartz crystal controlled. Provide fiber optic communication interface to reduce threat of damage from electrical storms.

E. LED (light emitting diode) units: Seven-bar, segmented digits with protective aluminum cover, rated for 100,000 hours, and designed to provide excellent visibility from all angles and sides.

2.3 SCOREBOARDS

2.4 CONTROL CENTER

***** Nevco Scoreboard Company manufactures the following control centers for operating scoreboards and other accessories. Refer to Nevco product literature for appropriate control centers for specific scoreboards and electronic accessories.

MPC - Universal wired control center with extensive control features and capacity to operate both scoreboard and accessories.

MPCW - Universal wireless version of MPC Control Center with receiver unit mounted at scoreboard.

MPCN - Wired basic control center without remote hand-held time switch, 1/10th second timing in last minute of play, and other features available with MPC Control Center. MPCN does not have the capacity to operate both scoreboard and accessories.

MPCHA - Wireless, battery operated version of MPCN Control Center and receiver unit mounted at scoreboard. MPCHA does not have the capacity to operate both scoreboard and accessories. Operates only one scoreboard.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Coordinate provision of portable scoreboards to ensure adequate electrical power outlets are provided in locations where portable scoreboards and control centers will be used.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Deliver and set up portable scoreboards and accessories in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved shop drawings.

B. Field quality control: After setup, field test scoreboards and accessories for operating functions. Ensure that scoreboards accurately perform all operations. Correct deficiencies.

C. Clean exposed surfaces.

D. Store scoreboards in protected location designated by Owner.

3.3 DEMONSTRATING AND TRAINING

A. In accordance with Section 01755 - Starting, Adjusting, and Demonstrating, provide demonstration and training session for Owner's representative covering operation and maintenance of electronic scoreboard.
