PLAYWORKER - JobDescription

To assist the other staff and support children throughout the nursery day. To encourage the development of positive behaviour amongst children, organise and lead play based learning experiences. Support children in being independent learners to include the development of self help skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Contribute to the development of a positive approach during the nursery day

2.Prepare games, activities and play based learning experiences for children, in

conjunction with other staff both outside and inside

3.Lead activities and participate in learning with children

4.Organise and maintain play equipment, ensuring its safe and tidy storage

5.Support other staff in delivering learning activities inside and outside

6.Assist children before, during and after mealtimes, to include help with
toileting and with eating meals

7.Liaise with parents to support transitions times

8.Attend staff meetings and staff development days when appropriate

9.Maintain children’s records where necessary

10.Establish and maintain relationships with other nursery staff and with parents
11.Participate in the nursery scheme of appraisal and performance management

12.Encourage positive behaviour amongst children in line with the nursery’s
behaviour policy

13.Promote and safeguard the welfare of children

14.Ensure that all tasks are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety

15.Undertake appropriate professional development including adhering to the principle of performance management.

16.Adhere to the policies and ethos of the nursery

17.Promote the agreed vision and aims of the nursery

18.Set an example of personal integrity and professionalism

19.Any other duties as commensurate with the grade in order to ensure the
smooth running of the nursery
