Language Arts/History Research Poster

Grade 8 Language Arts Standard:

2.02Use multiple sources of print and non-print information to explore and create research products in both written and presentational forms

Choose 1 of the following topics to research.

Step 1 à Select a US President OR a war that the United States was involved in (American Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, American Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghanistan War) OR a Branch of Government (Congress, House of Representatives, Supreme Court OR US military service branch (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force).

Step 2 à Create a poster providing information and pictures about the military service branch, war that the US was involved in, US President or the branch of government that you have chosen.

Content - Accuracy / The written response indicates an excellent understanding of the topic. Fully supported with ideas and evidence from the text, explanations, interpretations, or examples.
At least 10 accurate facts are displayed on the poster. / The written response indicates a good understanding of the topic. Supported with adequate evidence from the text, explanations, or reasons.
8-9 accurate facts are displayed on the poster. / The written response is a brief summary with few ideas or explanations which indicates that the student has a basic understanding of the topic.
6-7 accurate facts are displayed on the poster. / The written response is brief and indicates a minimal understanding of the topic. Topic and ideas are not supported with evidence.
Less than 6 accurate facts are displayed on the poster.
