Due Date:December 1

***This will be counted as a test grade!***

Part 1:Animal Model: Create a model of an animal of your choice. The animal must live in one of the following environments: Arctic, Ocean, Forest, Grasslands, or Desert. This must be completed entirely at home! Here are some ideas for creating your animal model:

  • draw a poster with a picture of your animal
  • create a model out of clay, orange juice or coffee cans, or toilet paper/paper towel rolls
  • make a paper bag puppet
  • check with your teacher if you have another idea.
  • Please Note: You may not make photocopies of animals and glue them to a poster! You must create your own model!

Your model needs to be neat, colorful, and as realistic as you can make it.

Part 2: Animal PowerPoint: Create a PowerPoint about your animal. Your report needs to have 6 slides. We will work on this in class, but you may need to complete it at home!

  • Slide 1 should provide the name of your animal
  • Slide 2 should be an introduction, providing your animal’s name and interesting facts about your animal
  • Slide 3 should answer the following questions:
  1. Tell what part of the world your animal lives in
  2. Describe its habitat
  3. Explain what the climate is like there
  • Slide 4 should have the following information:
  1. Describe at least 2 structural adaptations that your animal has.
  2. Explain how these adaptations help your animal survive in its environment

Remember, a structural adaptation is something on the animal’s body that helps it survive. (Example: A turtle has a shell to give it shelter.)

  • Slide 5 should have the following information:
  1. Describe at least 2 behavioral adaptations that your animal has.
  2. Explain how these adaptations help your animal survive in its environment

Remember, a behavioral adaptation is something the animal does to help it survive. (Example: A spider spins a web to catch its food.)

  • Slide 6 should be a conclusion, providing any other interesting information you would like to share about your animal, and wrapping (summing) up your PowerPoint.
