Mini Sluggers TBall Rules
Standard baseball rules prevail except in the following:
- All players present will bat and field every inning.
- Infield will consist of a catcher, pitcher, 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base and shortstop. If limited amount of kids show up go without a catcher, use a coach or a parent.
- Additional players will play in the outfield. Outfielders must stay on the grass until the ball is hit.
- Player positions must be rotated each inning so everyone has an opportunity to learn all positions. Players cannot play the same position twice in a game. Infielders and outfielders must be rotated
- Base path distance will be 50-feet (approximately 16-18 big walking steps).
- Pitching rubber distance will be 36-feet, 10-feet in front of standard pitching rubbers.
- Games will be 3-innings or 1-hour in length, whichever comes first.
- 1-inning will consist of both teams batting once through their complete roster.
- Pitcher must complete the pitching motion before the batter may swing at the ball.
- No players, except the catcher and the batter, will stand in the area behind the plate.Catcher should stand 6-feet behind the Tee while batters are attempting to hit the ball.
- No strikeouts. Batter swings until ball is hit.
- Runners advance one base per hit.If a batter is out they will remain on base to run. The last batter of each inning will hit an inning ending homerun and advances all of the bases. Be sure to rotate the last batter each inning so everyone get the chance to experience hitting the homerun.
- There is no leading off or stealing.
- Ball is dead and all action is completed when the ball has been placed on the batting Tee.
- Runners cannot advance on overthrows to any base. Ball is dead after all overthrows.
- The number of coaches on field during games is unlimited but coaches may not interfere with the play of the ball at any time.
- Teams and coaches must shake hands at end of game.
- Rain Out Policy:If weather is a factor contact the Parks and Recreation Department Weather Hotline at 651-490-4765after 3:30 p.m. to find out if the games have been cancelled. If the Recreation Department states the games are on, each team should report to their assigned field; if the field is unplayable a mutual decision between coaches should be made at the field.
