Course Materials

There is a few things that one needs in class each day to be an effective and affective student:

Notebook (single subject)

Loose-leaf paper

Pen or pencil

Binder or folder for keeping returned assignments

Topics-

In general, these are some of the historical periods we will be studying:

Renaissance / Reformation
Age of Exploration / The Enlightenment
French Revolution / Napoleonic Era
Industrial Revolution / The Great War
Russian Revolution / Interwar/WWII
Cold War / Dawn of the 21st Century

Assignment Policy-

Assignments and projects are expected in on the due date.

Late assignments may receive 50% of the possible points.

  • Assignments that are more than 5 school days late are marked as a zero in the gradebook.

Due dates of course will be adjusted for excused absences, school approved/planned absences (i.e. sports or club), and under other circumstances as per school and district policies.

Assignment due dates are adjusted to factor in their excused absence and provide an additional workday. (Example: A student is excused for 2 school days. So, they have 2 school days + one school day to complete the missed assignments.)

Attendance-

Students should come to every class, every day. There are reasons to miss school. Details on excused absences will be handled as per school policy. Further, students should be on time and not tardy. Time spent in school and getting an education is beneficial regardless of almost any post high school pursuit.

Students who miss class should consult the CHS Homework webpage for this class. They may also request a physical copy if need be. They may wish to check with their classmates for notes. See above on missing assignments.

Other Things Not Mentioned-

Topics or concerns not addressed in this document should refer to the student handbook. If you have any questions, you may email me or ask me in class.

So…have fun or something close.
