Your family of 4 is planning a 5 day vacation. It is your job to plan the meals for the 5 days. Each group of 4 students has a budget of $200.00. Work within your budget to plan and present the menu to the class using Power Point and turn in a binder with information listed below.

Project Guidelines

Work together as a group.

Use websites, sales papers, and creativity to plan appropriate meals based on the activity for each day.

$200.00 Budget Limit

Budget Creativity:

-Activities involved in the vacation must be considered when planning meals and must be realistic. (Four meals at a theme park at $10.00 each x 5 days = $200.00. This leaves $0.00 for remaining meals. Also, do not eat free meals at someone’s house to make your total $0.00 for the week.)

-Meal types must include some variety throughout the 5 days (Reasonable balance of preparing meals in hotel room, packing lunches or dinners, and eating out.).

-Include some nutritional elements during each day. (Examples: Prepare some meals that you cook with vegetables, pack some fruit to go with picnic type lunches, or include a salad or vegetables when eating out if available.)

Suggestions:

-Acceptable “free meal” ideas: Eat breakfast at home on day #1. Stay at hotels that include free breakfast. Be sure to include this information in your menu and budget.

-If you pack a lunch from home for day #1, calculate the cost of that meal in your budget.
