Commercial Building Energy Audits Sub-committee

Purpose:
TC 7.6 is concerned with the estimation, measurement, analysis, benchmarking, and management of whole building and building systems energy and water performance.
This sub-committee is cognizant in part for the publication “Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits”, aka “PCBEA” aka “The Green Book.”
Agenda:
- Introductions, 32 attendees
- Proposed Audits Standard SPC 211
- Update on publication schedule – voted to publish by letter ballot December, completed standard is with ASHRAE staff for editing, then to standards committee for approval, then to ACCA for ACCA approval. Expecting standard for sale by 2018 Annual Conference. Unanimous approval. Standard and normative forms to be published together. Forms are free. Fast tracked since unanimous vote.
- Building EQ update – portal hard launched in December for In Operation evaluation, project submissions through the new portal exceed the total submitted projects from the seven years of the previous version. Smashing success.
- Special Publication: “Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits, 3rd Ed.”
- Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits, 2nd Ed. published in 2011. An updated publication has not yet been proposed to Pub-Ed council.
- Outline of content has been developed and uploaded to Basecamp.
- Discussed workflow management – each section will be its own “page” in Basecamp, to be compiled into draft document once each section is substantially complete.
- Skim through Greenbook TOC to make sure we have covered all the existing material
- Workflow tracker – author, QA1, QA2 columns being developed as an excel file that also serves as the outline
- Solicited a volunteer to be the “communication coordinator” for this committee (Supriya Goel). Responsibilities are simply organizing and hosting monthly WebEx conferences for the committee. I’m not doing a good job at managing that part of this committee and could use help.
- Jim’s advice: need a lot of high resolution photographs – get the right photos for the right sections (DPI advise from Comstock)Walter Lenzi, Brasil Chapter volunteered to help with acquiring good pictures
- Note – the “tone” of this book is pretty much the same as the Green Book: mentoring and advisory
- Keep a list of sidebar / side note topics / Pro tips (how to photograph a nameplate, etc.)
- Basecamp folder for pictures, use lower res for placeholder photos and higher res go to basecamp
