2016 4-H Livestock Show Rules

The Moore County Livestock Show will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Moore County Fairgrounds, 3661 US-15/501, Carthage, NC 28327.

The Show is open to all youth that have not reached their 19th birthday prior to January 1, 2016. All youth under the age of 9 (Cloverbuds) will not be judged under competition, but will exhibit non-competitively and receive a ribbon and $5.00.

Heifer check-in will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. The heifer show begins at 9:30 am.

Goat weigh-in will begin at 11:30 am and end at 1:00 pm. The show will begin no earlier than 1:30 pm.

All animals must have an official health certificate signed by an accredited veterinarian or approved state or federally employed veterinarian. All goats must have USDA Scrapie tag in place. Those animals that do not have a tag will have to leave the show grounds.

Animals showing signs of illness on the day of the show will not be allowed to participate and will not be allowed to remain on the grounds.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the show.

Tie-outs will be available; there will be NO tying to the sides of the arena.

Restrooms are located on-site.

By entering into this show the showman, the showman’s family and anyone associated with them are agreeing to uphold the 4-H code of conduct.

  1. Each exhibitor is limited to 2 animals per species. If an exhibitor has more than one animal in a class, the other animal may be shown by another exhibitor entered in the show.
  1. Exhibitors will automatically be entered into their showmanship classes.
  1. There are no washing facilities available at the Moore County Fairgrounds, water will be available but not for washing animals. If your animals need extra shade plan to bring a means (pop-up tent, umbrella, etc.) to provide that.
  1. Changes to entries must be made prior to the day of the show. No substitutions of animals or competitors will be allowed at the show without prior approval.
  1. Show officials reserve the right to arrange classes as needed.
  1. Heifers must be born between September 1, 2014 and April 30, 2016 to participate.
  1. Heifers must be halter broken. Unruly animals that potentially endanger the safety of exhibitors or officials will be excused from the arena.
  1. Heifers will be divided into classes by birthdate. Classes with more than 10 entries will be split. All breeds will be shown in one class according to date of birth. No steers will be allowed in heifer classes or showmanship classes.

  1. The goat show is open to meat goats only. No dairy or pygmy breeds.
  1. Wether classes will be divided by weight at the discretion of the show officials. Number of classes will depend on number of goats entered.
  1. Doe classes will be determined by age:

Sr. Does-Born on or before Sept 16, 2015

Jr. Int. Does-Born Sept 17, 2015-Feb 28, 2016 *This class will be split into additional classes based off of weight

Jr. Does-Born on or after March 1, 2016

From Raleigh: Take US-1 South to US-15/501 South. Fairgrounds will be on the left

From Fayetteville: Take NC-87 N to NC-24 W/NC-27 W/US-15 S/US-501 S/Rte 24 W/State 24 W in Carthage. Fairgrounds will be on the left.

From Charlotte: Follow NC-27 East turn right onto NC-24E/ NC-27W.Turn right onto US24-E/Monroe Street. Fairgrounds will be on the right.
