Veterinary Technology Program Director
Independence Community College is seeking applications for the position of Veterinary Technology Program Director. Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serves approximately 3,000 full- and part-time students each year and has initiated continuous quality improvement through the Standard Pathways accreditation process.
Position Summary
The college is seeking a team-oriented professional for the position of Director of the Veterinary Technology program. Administrative responsibilities include curriculum development and review, recruitment of future students, hiring and evaluation of full-time and part-time Veterinary Technology faculty, management of program accreditation with the American Veterinary Medical Association and other relevant governing agencies, participation with other faculty and staff in a cycle of continuous program improvement.
Qualifications
Successful applicant must be acredentialed Veterinary Technician (AVMA accredited) or a licensed Veterinarian in the State of Kansas. Preferred teaching experience in veterinary medicine, veterinary technology or related field
Position Information
The Veterinary Technology Program Director is a full time, 12-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This positionreports to the Vice President of Academics.

Job Description
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all accreditation standards for the AVMA.
- Timely completion of all reports necessary for program and classroom assessment and for accreditation.
- Timely completion of all payroll, budget, accounting, class schedules, and faculty assignments.
- Develop the class schedule of offerings, consistent with approved courses, contact hours, and credit hours. Review and revise catalog information and brochures pertaining to the Program.
- Serve on assigned Program and College committees; participate in Program and College faculty meetings; participate in other Program and College activities as needed.
- Maintain professional competency through practice, continuing education, and professional activities.
- Keep informed of and evaluate major trends in the specific areas of instruction methodology and technology.
- Coordinate recruitment, advising, and placement for students in the program.
- Actively recruit students for the program which will include participation in evening and weekend events.
- Responsible for equipment used in Program. This includes inspecting, cleanings, updating and repairing equipment.
- Collaborative, professional and responsible work behavior.
- High degree of ethical standards, including confidentiality, adherence to general rules of safety, procedures, and fair labor standards.

- Must be a credentialed Veterinary Technician licensed in the State of Kansas.

- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Power Campus desirable.
