Family Fun Day: Well done to all the PA who organised another fabulous Christmas Fair in our school on 3rd Dec. Some gorgeous pictures of the activities are displayed on our website
A massive amount of €3,000 was raised. This money is used to provide the children with music, dance, and computer classes, as well as buses for trips during the year. / I.T. - Bebras
All the children from 3rd-6th classes enjoyed participation in Bebras – a computer problem solving exercise.
Great results were achieved all round, with 2 boys qualifying for participation in a national event in MaynoothUniversity next Easter.
Well done,TadhgNally and Theo Byrne in 4th class.
A very Special Thanks from the Board and Staff to Jennie and John Byrne for many years of great work as Caretakers in this school.
They have provided a dedicated service in maintaining the school. Their diligent work is much appreciated. Jennie finishes up at the end of this month, and we wish her well. / Thanks to Aisling Minogue-Dance teacher,

and ChrisFurlong – I.T.teacher.
All these activities are paid for by the funds raised by the hardworking P.Association.
We plan to purchase 6 more computers in the New Year, and to replace chargers in the old computers. Continuous maintenance and upgrading is made possible by the successful endeavours of the fundraising committee.
Carol Service and Xmas Holidays
Our Carol Service will take place at 11.00am in Johnstown on 22nd Dec. All are welcome. The children will need to be collected and brought to and collected from the church. We expect to be finished around mid-day and our school holidays will begin after the service. School will re-open on Monday January 8th. / Extra School Closure
Monday 29th January for the introduction of the Primary Language Curriculum training day for staff.
Mid Term Break
Thurs 15th and Friday 16th February 2018.
R.D.S. Science Exhibition:
3rd & 4th class children are presently working on their science project. Their focus this year is ‘The Eye’.
This project will be presented on Saturday13th Jan. by the children in the RDS when all the senior children will take a trip to see primary and post primary schools’ experiments etc. on display.

Sports:
Rugby and GAA sessions will continue in the new year. We are obliged to request the wearing of gum shields for contact sports. / Parent Teacher Meetings
There was great attendance at the recent parent/teacher meetings. These meetings are of value to both the teachers and the parents, as they give a better understanding of your child’s progress in school, and the opportunity to discuss any concerns.
Non-uniform Day
All children were invited to wear something festive on Wednesday 13th December. The excitement is building earlier this year!!
Website: The school has an upto date website which has information on calendar events, policies and classroom work. / A Special Thanks to all the teachers and staff for all their hard work throughout the year.
School reopens on the 8th January 2018.
