Queensland Year 12 destinations

The department undertakes the Next Step survey of students who completed Year 12 during the previous year from state, Catholic and independent schools. Results identify the future employment, study and life choices that these students are making. Results of the survey also give an insight into how well schools are preparing students for adult life, and help to formulate policy and develop services. The survey showed 87.5 per cent of young Queenslanders were engaged in education, training or employment six months after completing Year 12 in 2012 (see Figures44 and 45).
