HOLLYWOOD CENTRAL ELEMENTARY
SAC MEETING
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 2:32 PM. Members in attendance were Delicia Decembert,Lisa Eutsey, Kelly Heverly, Lisa Labruto,James Pough, Gloria Ferrin, Eugene Harscar, Cynthia Hart-Carter, Osse Leandre. The meeting began with an Icebreaker Activity that focuses on what the SAC Members would like to add to their bucket list.
New Business:
The School Advisory Council reviewed the minutes from December’sSchool Advisory Council meeting. The School Advisory Chairperson went over future SAC meeting times and dates. The next SAC Meeting will be held on February 22nd, at 2:30 in the Media Center.
Principal’s Report- Ms. Decembert
Ms. Decembert discussed the following topics/upcoming events:
*Manatee All-Star and Manatee Tech Camp will be servicing grades: K, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th
*Manatee All Star Teams are for 2nd-5th Grades. Students are able to pick which teams they’re interested in such as Spanish Club, Running Club, Art Club, and Step/Dance Club.
*Students will be participating in the Broward Schools Assessment (BSA) for grades 3-5.
School Improvement Plan
The School Advisory Committee was given the School Improvement Plan with the Title One Addendum and Parent Involvement Action Plan for the 2017-2018 school year. The committee members read over the School Improvement Plan with the Title One Addendum and Parent Involvement Action Plan and suggested the following: parents should be allowed in the classroom on the first day, and the intermediate students such as 5th grade, should have a “College-Career Ready Day” to help the students become knowledgeable about the high school process and how to be college and career ready in the future, and another suggestionis to add an Anti-Bullying component to the plan. Teachers should be able to participate in professional development to promote anti-bullying throughout the school.
School Parent Compact
Hollywood Central Elementary School-Parent Compact for the 2017-2018 school year was introduced. The purpose of the School-Parent Compact is help parents share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement in order to build a quality partnership between the parents, students, and the school. One of the SAC members suggested that uniforms should be included in the School-Parent Compact for the 2017-2018 school year. The committee members was encouraged to review the School-Parent Compact further and bring the compact back for the February 2017 SAC Meeting in order to add any additional suggestions. Another suggestion, that was brought up was the traffic patterns around the school’s crossing guard. Although this is a suggestion, the School-Parent Compact is academic based only.

Mrs. Hart-Carter provided information on the following:
2017 Title 1 Annual Parent Seminar, Family Engagement: Full Steam Ahead! Saturday, January 28th, 2017 7:30 am-3:00 pm, Signature Grand, Guest Speaker: Mr. Hill Harper
Family Community and Engagement Update (FACE)-Mrs. Heverly, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Heverly introduced FACE, which stands for Family Community and Engagement Plan. This new Broward County Public Schools initiative focuses on teachers and the quality of customer service that is given. One of the most important aspects of FACE is knowing our different populations that attend Hollywood Central.

Ms. Eutsey made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 3:05 PM. Mr. Harscar seconded the motion. Our next SAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the media center.
