New Work Item Proposals from the ISO Technical Management Board (TMB)

A proposal for a new field of technical activity can be submitted to the ISO Central Secretariat. The proposer may be a member body of ISO, a technical committee or subcommittee, the Technical Management Board or a General Assembly committee, the Secretary-General, a body responsible for managing a certification system operating under the auspices of ISO, or another international organization with national body membership.

All ISO members are then invited to consider the new work item proposal (NWIP) and indicate their approval of the area for standardisation, and their intention to participate in any committee’s that approved projects are assigned to. This participation may be as an active participant and provided with full voting rights, or as an observer member whereby attendance is on an informational basis only.

This table shows the new proposals that have been received since January 2015, and the New Zealand voting position that has been cast.
