Job Description: Nursery Practitioner
Key Objectives
· Work in a manner that ensures all agreed company policies and procedures are maintained in the room at all times.
· To work as a member of the nursery team, showing initiative and creativity to foster an environment which encourages the children’s all round development and where high standards of care are provided.
Responsibilities
Operational
· Be a reliable member of the staff team, working cooperatively and with flexibility.
· Develop excellent communications with parents/ Guardians, encouraging them to participate in their child’s progress and development.
· Observe each child’s progress and report on achievements, looking for progression and continuity. Where appropriate take a special interest in a specified number of children.
· Assist with the supervision of children at play indoor and outdoor and at mealtimes.
· Assist with planning al program of activities suitable for the age range of the children.
· Assist with creating a stimulating and attractive environment.
· Attend parents’ evenings, be involved with fundraising events and assist with the promotion of the nursery as required.
· Assist with the care, maintenance and security of all equipment and toys with in the nursery.
Personnel
· Participate in staff training, staff development and any meetings required
· Develop positive relationships with other staff members at the nursery.
Health and safety
· Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, security, hygiene throughout the nursery.
· Ensure the cleanliness of the children at all times.
· Operate the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the bedding and nappy changing area and food service area.
· Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures.
General
· Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures including attendance at meetings, preparations of reports and any other duties as required.

Previous experience of looking after children under 5 / X
Previous experience working within a nursery / X

Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted regulations / X
Affinity with young children / X
Ability to work as reliable member of the team, developing positive relationships with colleagues, parents, children and external agencies / X
Knowledge and understanding of Equal Opportunities / X
Good communication skills / X
Safe guarding training / X
First Aid certificate / X
Competent to use tapestry & ict equipment. / X
Experience of being a Key person. / X
Has experience in undertaking observations linked to the EYFS. / X
