Weekly Newsletter for the week of

February 27th-March 2nd

Here’s what we did:

Morning Language Arts: We are finishing upJoyful Noise. All projects should be completed by the end of the first week in March. There should be 2 of each project: comic, poem, PowerPoint, and moviemaker. We have been offered the chance to share our work with some 5th grade students- a chance to impress future teachers as well. We will be previewing literature circles with our next book, starting soon!

Afternoon Language Arts: The students are finishing up our three different books in class: Tuck Everlasting, Mr. Popper’s Penguins and Mr. Toast and the Wooly Mammoth. We will begin a new book the second week of March.

In Social Studies we continued reading chapter 5 focusing on Ohio’s growth. We also celebrated Ohio’s birthday on March 1st with birthday cards, games (pin the capital on the state), Ohio songs and party hats (Ohio’s flag). We will be finishing up chapter 5 and testing next week.

We have been practicing 5 minutes a day for our 4th grade assembly. We have some very ambitious plans and have gotten off to a great start!

Here’s what’s coming up:

We are halfway through the 3rd quarter- wow! Midterm reports will be coming home today if there are any concerns with grades, behavior and effort.

Wednesday, March 7th from 3:05-4:40 is the Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lakewood High School. This year Lincoln has 5 teams entered in the race, which means ten teachers/staff from Lincoln are going to be paddling furiously across the pool at the high school in a cardboard box! Tickets will be available beforehand, or purchase at the door if you are interested! Should be lots of fun! I wonder if I will get as wet as I did in the Dunk Tank…… 

Important Information:

Thank you for the boxes of tissues. We received four boxes and will make it through a few more months! 

Students are now responsible for having their planners out to be checked by me. If their planner is not out, they do not receive points for our class total. If your notice that your child’s planner is not being signed by me, it is because they are not remembering in the morning to have it out. Planner police should also be initialing planners to check each day.

Keep on checking those planners and the website! More assignments and links are being added to folders weekly. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me through email or phone. or 216-529-4232.
