Bethel School District hires foreign language and sign language interpreters when needed for students and their family members who may not speak English or who are hearing impaired. Interpreters are used for parent/teacher conferences, school performances, special education meetings, discipline meetings, graduations and many other events to facilitate communication. We also occasionally have a need for translation services to read critical educational documents.

Bethel School District contracts interpreter services with companies in our area through a competitive bid process and it is important for us to be able to track and account for each job that is scheduled. We want to keep the process for getting an interpreter easy and efficient, but we also need accountability. To that end, the procedures to request an interpreter have been revised as follows.

Foreign Language Interpreters:

We have two providers for foreign language interpreters – Cross Cultural Communications and Dynamic Language.

1.  Complete the Foreign Language Interpreter Request for an interpreter from Cross Cultural Communications or for Dynamic Language.

2.  Call or email either company to set up the interpreter.

3.  When the interpreter completes the service, please sign and date the request form to confirm that the services have been rendered. If the interpreter gives you a copy of their job authorization sheet, staple the two sheets together and send them to Renee Cappetto at Special Services at the ESC.

Sign Language Interpreters:

1.  Complete the Sign Language Interpreter Request Form and email it to Renee Cappetto at . Maintain the original request until the appointment.

2.  Renee will arrange the interpreter appointment and confirm it with you.

3.  When the interpreter completes the services, please sign the Sign Language Interpreter Request Form (section #2) to confirm that the services have been rendered. If the interpreter gives you a copy of their job authorization sheet, staple the two sheets together and send them to Renee Cappetto at Special Services, ESC.

Translation of Documents:

1.  Complete the Translation Request Form, attach the document(s) you would like to have translated and email them to Renee Cappetto at .

2.  Renee will get an estimate for the translation and make arrangements to have the job completed.

If you have any questions about any of these procedures, please contact Renee Cappetto at (253)683-6920 or at .
