Mrs. Navitsky’s Middle Level Algebra 1 Class
Welcome! Here’s what you need to know…
What supplies do I need to bring to class?
- 1” 3-ring binder
- 5 dividers, one for each of the following sections:
- P.O.D. (Problem of the Day)
- Handouts
- Notes
- Homework
- Assessments (you will keep your grade sheet here)
- Loose-leaf paper to put in the Notes section
- Scientific Calculator (recommend TI-30XIIS or TI-34)
- Pencils(a pencil case is a great idea too!)
- Assignment Book
We will clean out our notebooks at the end of every unit. Then you can recycle your notes or bring them home. You will not be allowed to go to your locker unless you have a pass.
What should I do when I get to class?
- Enter the room quietly and get your homework out.
- Write your assignment in your assignment book.
- Complete the problem of the day.
When can I ask questions?
- Any time! Just raise your hand and wait for me to call on you.
- We will also have time to practice what we learn in class each day through games, activities, or partner work.
Math rocks!
We will learn tips to make math easier!
What about homework?
- I will assign homework daily.
- You will receive 1 point for each completed assignment. If homework is
not completed on time, you will be required to complete it period 9.
What if I am absent?
You can always check the daily assignments on my website. When you return it is
your responsibility to see me about any missed assignments or quizzes/tests. It
is up to you to seek help if you need it.
How can I study?
The best way to study math is to recopy some problems from previous assignments
and re-work them. Then check your work and answers.
What if I am struggling?
If you are struggling Iwill give you a pass for help during period 9 with a math
teacher. You may also request a pass from me during class for this help period 9.
Be responsible for your own learning!
We follow the school-wide “Give Me Five” rules in this classroom:
