AID FOR FRIENDS
Heartfelt thanks to all who were part of the Aid for Friends March 7th Group Cook Effort that prepared and filled 334 trays with delicious, healthy food. Thank you so much for your hard work. Also thanks to all who have taken up the Aid for Friends goal of feeding and visiting those in need. All winter the freezers have been happily full. Did the blizzards keep us in our kitchens?? Whatever the reason, your efforts are greatly appreciated. Let’s keep it going.
RESPECT LIFE
The House of Representatives is the last line of defense to stop a government takeover of healthcare. It is getting set to vote on the monstrosity that was voted out of the Senate. That bill allowed for the largest expansion of government funding of abortions we have ever seen.
The US Bishops have stated publicly that “The Senate health reform bill should not move forward in its current form” and nothing about the bill has changed since they wrote that.
For this reason, we are urging you to place at least two phone calls to any of the representatives, but especially to your own representative – he or she has been elected to represent your interests. Tell you representative that the vast majority of Americans don’t want tax dollars going to pay for abortions.
Allyson Schwartz’s phone numbers: 215-517-6572 and 215-335-3355.
SCHOOL NEWS
Grade six students explored some Magnetic Art in a recent Science class after a morning of Terra Nova testing. The objective of the lesson for each group was to design and create a magnetic sculpture that was at least 20 centimeters tall. Magnets and objects with magnetic properties held the entire structure together. A quick sketch or diagram helped to show how all the pieces connected. A final presentation to the class provided an opportunity to share each group’s scientific artwork.
PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM
―Special thanks to Phyllis Jablonowski for the beautiful bows for First Penance.
―We are grateful to Mrs. Barbara Good for directing the very successful Group Cook on March 7. We thank Mrs. Good and all the teachers, parents and students who so generously gave of their time and food donations and were able to prepare over 300 meals.
―It was so good to see our First Eucharist Parents at the parent meeting on March 16. Thank you to all our parents who donated snacks and helped to set up and clean up after the meeting. We also thank Mrs. Julie Nobles for her helpful presentation.
―Living Stations of the Cross practice will be on Sunday, March 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. There will also be an additional practice on Friday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. All participants please arrive promptly for practices.
Living Stations of the Cross Presentation
We welcome all our parishioners to attend this special devotion on Friday, March 26 at 7 p.m. as we prayerfully reflect on Jesus’ Passion through the eyes of Mary, His Mother.
