Turtle neck sweater and long pants:
Yarn: Variegated blue 75% wool, 25 % nylon sock yarn - Tiger,
blue - 100% cotton 8/4
2 mm and 2 ½ mm knitting needles
Gauge: ( 32 sts and 44 rows with 100% cotton 8/4 and 2 mm knitting needles
= approx. 10 cm x 10 cm)
Turtle neck Sweater:
Cast on 28 sts with variegated blue, 2 ½ mm knitting needles, and work:
Rows 1, 3: * K 1, P 3 *, repeat between *-* across row
Rows 2, 4: * K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row
Row 5: * K 1, P 3 *, repeat between *-* across row
Continue with stockinette stitch until work measures 11 ½ cm.
Cast off for neck:
Row 6: K 7, place the next 14 sts on a stitch holder (for turtle neck), K 7
Row 7: P 7, cast on 14 new sts, P 7
Continue with stockinette stitch until back piece measures 10 cm.
Continue with ribbing:
Rows 8, 10: (Right side)* K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row
Rows 9, 11: (Wrong side) * K 1, P 3 *, repeat between *-* across row
Row 12: *(Right side) K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row
Cast off with knit on knit sts, and purl on purl sts.
Sleeve:
Pick up 30 sts, from right side, with variegated blue
and 2 ½ mm knitting needles, of the middle 8 ½ cm of the edge.
Work stockinette stitch.
Decrease 1 st on each side at 2 cm.
Repeat every fourth row, until 20 sts remain.
Continue with stockinette stitch.
At 7 ½ cm work:
Rows 1, 3: (Right side) * K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row
Rows 2, 4: (Wrong side) * K 1, P 3 *, repeat between *-* across row
Row 5: (Right side) * K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row
Cast off with knit on knit sts, purl on purl sts.
Work the other sleeve the same.
Turtle neck collar:
Take the 14 sts from stitch holder and pick up 1 st on each side of the 14 sts with variegated blue
and 2 ½ mm knitting needles = 16 sts
Work rib stitch (K 1, P 1) for 4 cm.
Cast off.
Pick up 16 sts on the other side of neck and work rib stitch ( K 1, P 1) for 4 cm.
Cast off.
Sew together collar at sides.
Sew together sweater at sides and sleeves.
Blue pants:
Cast on 20 sts with blue yarn and 2 mm knitting needles.
Work stockinette stitch.
At 2 cm, 5 cm, 8 cm, 11 cm, increase 1 st on each side, inside edge stitch = 28 sts
At 14 cm, cast off 3 sts on each side.
Place the work aside and work the other leg the same.
Knit both pieces together by joining together last and first sts = 43 sts
Continue with stockinette stitch.
After 1 cm, decrease 4 sts evenly across row = 39 sts
After 2 cm, decrease 2 sts evenly across row = 37 sts
After 3 cm work:
Rows 1, 3: * K 3, P 1 *, repeat between *-* across row, end with K 1
Rows 2, 4: P 1, * K 1, P 3 *, repeat between *-* across row.
Cast off with knit on knit sts, purl on purl sts.
