GCITA Interclub

Sign Up Guidelines

August 2010 – May 2011

Mission Statement

The Five Seasons Interclub is a program provided for the members and was created to promote the game of tennis in social/competitive team format. It is our goal for all Interclub players to be given the opportunity to improve their playing ability in a fun and competitive atmosphere. The GCITA and Five Seasons philosophy is that your commitment is for one full year end of August through May. We discourage any moving up or down from teams mid season (Dec-Jan).

1.  NEW INTERCLUB PLAYERS

I.)  In order to be eligible to play Interclub, you must be able to commit to a team captain for a minimum of 17 weeks and be a Five Seasons member at least 19 years of age.

II.)  New teams are formed of players of equal ability levels or as close as possible. Teams consist of (3) or (4) courts of players at a certain interclub level. There must be a minimum of 6 players for a 3 court team and 8 players for four court team.

III.)  All forms must be in by July 14th. Any players turning in forms after the deadline cannot be guaranteed a place to play.

2.  EXISTING TEAMS / PARTNERSHIPS

I)  An existing team consists of a team with 50% of last season’s players returning for another season.

II)  Each player is guaranteed a spot back on the team if their player record is high enough.

III)  If the team wins playoffs, the entire team may move up to a higher level or those individuals that wish to move up can form a new team or be placed on an existing higher level team if there is an opening.

3.  CRITERIA FOR PLAYERS TO MOVE UP

Ø  If a player meets the GCITA criteria of having 5 wins at a higher level, and there is an opening, they may be able to move to the next highest interclub level

Ø  If an entire team, or individual doubles team wins 35% or less of their matches, they may be asked to stay or move down, if there is an opening at a lower level, or enough members are available to form a new team

Ø  Players who competed in the 2009-2010 seasons are guaranteed a spot on their same team ONLY if they meet the criteria above

Ø  GCITA as the governing body of Interclub has the final say as to whether a team may move up or down based on previous standings (not the players). This is to ensure competitive matches for all players.

Ø  If you meet all the criteria set forth by the Tennis Department, you have a position on the roster.

The Five Seasons Interclub Coordinator and the Tennis Director reserves the right to make all final decisions in placing Interclub Players.

4.  CAPTAINS

Five Seasons Tennis Department is responsible for assigning a captain for each team. Captains will be chosen at the discretion of the Tennis Department, or team vote if needed. There will be a mandatory meeting for all captains in late August.
