CT Scan with IV Contrast

  • No solid food 4 hours before your scheduled appointment.

Diabetic Patients:

Testing being done with IV contrast:

  • Diabetics on Glucophage, Gluovance, Avandamet or Metformin must be oof the medication the day of the study and at least 48 hours after injection of contrast.
  • No solid food 4 hours before your scheduled appointment and only clear liquids.

Testing being done with oral contrast only:

  • Continue taking insulin and / or medication as prescribed by your physician.
  • You may eat as usual.

Abdomen, Pelvis (liver, pancreas, renals)

  • No solid food 4 hours before your scheduled appointment.
  • The oral contrast can be picked up prior your appointment – or you may arrive two (2) hours before exam time to drink the contrast.

Spiral CT for Kidney Stones

  • There is no prep.

Digital Mammography

  • Avoid using deodorants or powders on the day of your examination.
  • Your mammogram will be read by our radiologist and will also be scanned by our iCAD System.
  • The system will analyze your mammogram along with the radiologist and look for any possible suspicious regions.

Testing that includes Contrast Injections:

  • Recent BUN and Creatinine results are required for all patients over the age of 55.

MRI

  • Continue taking medications prescribed or recommended by your physician.
  • Avoid wearing any type of jewelry. Metal objects will interfere with the MRI machine.
  • Avoid wearing any make-up that may contain metallic particles that may interfere with study.
  • Please inform the staff of any metal injuries or metal implant surgeries, pacemakers or heart surgeries that you have had.

Ultrasound

Gall Bladder or Pancreas

  • Clear liquid only if you need to take medication; otherwise nothing to eat or drink after midnight.

Pelvic, Obstetrical, or Endovaginal

  • Finish drinking one quart (32 ounces) of liquid (water or juice) 45 minutes prior to exam.
  • Do not urinate.

Radiology Services

Preparation Kits are available at Viewmont Imaging or your Doctor’s Office

Upper Gastro-Intestinal Series (Upper GI), Barium Swallow, or Small Bowel Follow Through

  • Do not eat or drink anything from midnight the night before your scheduled exam until your scheduled exam.

Barium Enema

  • Pick up your prep kit at least 2 days prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Follow all directions as listed on the package beginning the day before your scheduled exam.

Intravenous Urogram (IVP)

  • Pick up your prep kit at least 2 days prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Follow all directions as listed on the package beginning the day before your scheduled exam.
  • Do Not use the suppository for this particular test.
