POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Working with Children Act 2005 requires that all school crossing supervisors have a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Applicants are responsible for obtaining and paying for the WWCC.

Application forms for Working With Children Checks can be obtained from Australian Post Offices, and can take up to 6 weeks to be processed by the Department of Justice.

To be considered for this position, applicants will be required to provide a WWCC card. In accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2000, Council will retain a copy of your WWCC card.

1.  School Crossing Supervisor positions become available from time to time for either Permanent Part-time roles or Casual reliever roles. Please indicate what you are interested in applying for by circling your selection below.

8.  As a school crossing supervisor you would be required to report for your shift at your assigned crossing fully equipped and ready to work. This means taking your uniform, a stop sign (up to 2 meters long) and a set of children’s crossing flags with you to the crossing.

9.  It is important that all school crossing supervisors are at their allocated crossings on time for shifts in both the morning (8am or 8:15am) and afternoon (between 2:45pm to 3.15pm). As a reliever you may receive a phone call with either a change to your allotted crossing or additional shift(s). This could be at short notice (15 – 30 minutes) before the crossing is due to start (morning or afternoon).

10.  By what method of travel would you use to travel to and from the crossings?

11.  School crossing supervisor reliever shifts are offered at 19 crossings in the Shire. The crossings are located in Gisborne, New Gisborne, Kyneton, Lancefield, Macedon, Mount Macedon, Malmsbury, Newham, Riddells Creek, Romsey and Woodend.

12.  It is important that we can contact staff to allocate crossing shifts.

13.  School crossings are in operation for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, Monday to Friday during school term. Would there be any day/s or shift/s on an ongoing basis that you would be unavailable to work? Yes / No

14.  As a School crossing supervisor you will be required to stand for the entire (1-hour) crossing shift in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Would you have any issues in carrying out this part of the role?
